responsibility for Voice & Data Communications and e-Mail functions; followed up on daily activities and

• Migration of Frame Relay Network from Sprint to ATT to reduce cost and improve throughput

• Evaluate vendor proposals for e-Mail outsourcing to unify disparate e-Mail platforms in use

Played key role in outsourcing project led by IBM Germany to transition existing Hapag-Lloyd (America)

Data Center to IBM Germany; supported Global Team Lead with due diligence activities; planned and

coordinated data migration activities; planned and performed on-site training of staff in Germany to

support transitioned operations; managed US project to migrate existing ATT Frame Relay network to

IBM’s “Managed Data Network Services (MDNS)” solution.

• Hapag-Lloyd US Data Center transition to IBM Germany as per contractual obligations

• Migration of the “as-is” network to IBM’s MDNS Solution

Manager of Systems Programming and Computer Operations

Spearheaded Data Center Operations, managing staff of 14 persons with varying functions and degrees

of expertise, including Systems programmers, Computer Operators and Supervisors, Technical Support

and Production Support; day to day operations and problem management; preparation of IT budgets;

evaluation of vendor proposals; Disaster Recovery Leader for configuration planning, design of

backup/restore philosophy for mainframe data, WAN recovery and automatic fail over to DR Site,

quarterly testing and contractual issues; accountable for strategic planning of mainframe

software/hardware and Wide Area Networking.

Originally hired as VTAM Systems Programmer in 1990; promoted to Manager of Systems Programming

in 1993 and given responsibility for overall Data Center and Computer Operations in 1994.

Projects managed under my leadership:

• Redesign and successfully implement Mainframe and WAN Disaster Recovery to ensure

business continuity in the event of disaster

• Data Center relocation from NY to NJ dictated by the company’s decision to move to Piscataway

• Numerous Hardware/Software upgrades; new hardware technologies made it possible to reduce

floor space and environmental costs and take advantage of cost savings with new ‘Tiered’ OS

software licensing structures; system software levels were maintained at “n” or “n-1” version

levels to ensure compliance with vendor supported levels

• Network consolidation; separate point-to-point SLDC network and TCP/IP router-based Token

Ring network were combined into single Frame Relay network to reduce transport and hardware

cost as well as position the company for future new technology.
