My name is Michael Reed and I am writing to share my experience through my resume and digital
portfolio in response to the ad for an Outside Sales Rep (Construction) – MA posted on line June 2, 2009.
Having been involved in the residential design and construction industry for several years as a
member of the sales team, designer, project manager, field construction inspector, builder trainer, client and
architect collaborator as well as new product researcher and developer, I feel I am an excellent candidate
for this position.
My previous company designed, manufactured and shipped high end pre-engineered house
packages all over the United States and worldwide. We developed a network of preferred contractors who
would construct the houses on site. I have contacts and relationships with several of these builders in the
Massachusetts and Rhode Island areas. I would assist these contractors via phone or with a site visit if
necessary to resolve any questions or issues during and after construction. Many of these contractors were
trained by me on building with a pre-engineered building system. I have maintained relationships with many
of them for several years.
One of my strongest attributes is the ability to work closely with Owners, Architects, Contractors
and Design Team members toward a projects success. As an example I designed a residence for a site in
North Captiva, FL, for a client who resided in Boulder, Co. I trained the contractor who was based in North
Venice, FL, while collaborating with the Structural Engineer based in Fort Myers, FL. The house was quite a
