A Comcast owned, leading national Cable TV/Satellite broadcaster of sports programming.
Initially a temporary employee when company was still a start up effort in the process of
launching two channels-Outdoor Life and Speedvision. Brought on full time to help build
accounting group and handle diverse accounting functions as company grew and underwent
changes in ownership. Following the sale of Speedvision and Comcast’s acquisition of a 100%
interest in Versus assigned a wider range of more complex accounting and financial reporting
tasks along with additional supervisory responsibilities.
Manager of Accounting
Managed general ledger, financial reporting, inter-company accounting, accounts payable and
fixed asset functions. Worked with sales groups and receivable team on contract, billing and
revenue reporting issues. Coordinated work flow with external and internal auditors including
‘Prepared by Client’ (PBC) requests. Created close schedules and managed monthly, quarterly
and annual close cycle. Verified sub ledger reconciliations. Oversaw account analysis, review
and adjustments. Assisted in budget and forecast process. Prepared Property and Use tax
returns. Provided Comcast tax group with state tax allocation factors. Handled Treasury/Cash
Management and bank reconciliations. Supervised staff. Reported to VP - Controller.
Revised internal financial reports to provide concise meaningful results that department
heads could use in forecasting and tracking variances against remaining budget.
Developed supplemental statistical information for use in the senior management financial
reporting package.
Created reports to facilitate charge back and reconciliation of inter-company transactions.
Worked on Comcast’s supplemental reporting package which included flux analysis of
Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and changes in key metrics.

details and on an annual basis foot note related information.

Managed Accounting for a subsidiary that involved foreign currency, deferred revenue
recognition analysis-review and calculation of commission payments.
Worked with financial software consultant to automate tasks that reduced input time and
eliminated the possibility of keying errors.
Key member of a team that included the Comcast financial reporting group, other Comcast
owned stations and an outside consulting firm tasked with development and implementation
of a standardized chart of accounts, financial reports and accounts payable process for all
Comcast owned TV stations.
Created cash tracking and planning schedules that showed daily available cash in relation to
bank balances.
Worked with Accounts Receivable team to create a cash proof schedule that ensured cash
applied in the receivables module tied to the amounts deposited in the bank before month
end close was finished. This eliminated almost all deposit related bank reconciliation issues.
Set up the internal controls policy, user security settings and reports for the JP Morgan
‘ACCESS’ treasury system. Coordinated the conversion to JP Morgan’s ‘Receivables Edge’
platform for enhanced lock box reporting. Trained staff on use of each product.
Value Behavioral Health, Falls Church, VA. (Formerly Preferred Health Care Ltd) 1988-1995
One of the nations largest managed behavioral health care organizations. Joined company as
Accounting Coordinator and helped grow the accounting function as the company grew.
Manager of Accounting
Managed general ledger accounting, inter-company accounting, payroll, accounts payable,
accounts receivable and fixed asset functions. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end
closings. Coordinated year end audit with outside auditors, including preparation of tax work
papers. Produced internal and external financial statements, including SEC schedules,
reconciliation’s and analysis for senior management. Oversaw cash management. Developed
property valuation schedules for insurance broker.
Created and implemented an in-house accounting function including job descriptions and
procedures.
Developed a more efficient cash management system resulting in a 50% reduction in time
spent by senior accountant on this function.
Reviewed cost allocation methods to more clearly identify and accurately charge end uses.
Managed the transition from an AS-400 financial software package to a PC based financial
reporting package. This included development of a new generic chart of accounts for both
companies.
