PNAP Network Engineer, Internap Network Services, (3/2007 – Present)
Internap specializes in commodity transit services with the special niche of route-optimization. The PNAP Network Engineer
maintains various transit-data centers. The position also requires side projects as needed to fulfill the company’s long-term fiscal
goals.
• Maintenance of Internap’s global PNAP infrastructure. Principally, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Dallas, and San Francisco.
• Documentation and revision of Internap’s new Peering network AS22212. Peering Coordination and financial analysis.
• Worked with provisioning team to analyze the linking together of PNAP sites to realize cost savings from peering.
• Added approximately 200 new customers from an acquired company resulting in2M increase in 2008 fiscal projections.
• Participated in planning and integration of newly acquired global content distribution company.

Senior Network Engineer, Air2Web, Inc, (4/2006 – 1/2007)
Air2Web is an application service provider specializing in mobile messaging, mobile marketing, and SMS gateway services on a
global basis. Air2Web also acts as a carrier aggregator for smaller mobile messaging companies, providing message delivery to
millions of cellular customers worldwide. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the Air2Web IP network
including network design, maintenance and troubleshooting. This position requires everything from packet-level analysis to network
and data center design.
• Established Air2Web’s first eBGP peering connections to a Major US-National cellular provider.
• Corrected CPU-spiking issue with Cisco VPN Concentrator, stabilizing inter-carrier SMS routing and delivery.
• Designed complex ASP applications including IP assignment, firewall and VPN configuration, and routing and load balancing.
• Utilized a minimalist approach to redesign internal OSPF-routing; introduced areas and aggregation wherever possible.
• Designed and Implemented Air2Web’s disaster recovery data center.

WV Fiber, LLC is a US-national network services provider specializing in IP Transit and MPLS transport services.
The Lead IP Engineer is responsible for IP network design, internal & external routing policies, MPLS VC implementation, mentoring
of junior engineers and sales staff, and acts as the final escalation point for all network operational issues. The Peering Coordinator
duties include acquisition of new peers, provisioning new IX-fabric and private-peer connections, interconnection upgrades, and
traffic analyses to steer strategic policy, optimize routing, and minimize upstream OPEX.
• Oversaw operations for 19 points of presence across the United States (Switch & Data, Equinix, & various other carrier hotels).
• Designed new modular POP architecture to provide route redundancy, minimize routing-overhead, and maximize uptime.
• Revamped iBGP architecture to include communities, metrics, and local preference to provide a consistent external route-view.
• Reduced edge-router iBGP memory requirements by 66% by collapsing an overly redundant route-reflector configuration.
• Negotiated new transit and paid-peering contracts resulting in a 50% reduction in upstream traffic costs.

UseNetServer specializes in customer retail and ISP wholesale NNTP content services. UNS operated as a system of island-ASes (AS
per datacenter) that acted as regional hubs for the distribution of NNTP content. The Senior Network Engineer was responsible for all
operational aspects of the network, including capacity planning, network design, equipment purchasing, configuration, deployment,
and maintenance.
• Maintained data centers in Atlanta, Chicago, San Jose, New York, and Miami.
• Architected datacenter expansions into Ashburn, VA and Dallas, TX.
• Built this company's first IGP utilizing OSPF and expanded the EGP footprint from single-homed to multi-homed via eBGP.
• Rebuilt all POPs based on hierarchical optical design that provided fault tolerance, improved uptime, and reduced customer churn.
• Renegotiated equipment, circuit, and bandwidth pricing resulting in a 50% reduction of equipment and bandwidth costs.
• Extensive use of e/iBGP and OSPF to optimize interior and exterior routing to minimize overall bandwidth and equipment costs.
• Architected new WAN design to interconnect all national POP footprints - performed buy vs. build analysis on dark fiber, lit-
service, and MPLS-VC options for long haul connectivity. This became the basis for the future WAN at WV Fiber.
Regional WAN Engineer, EarthLink / MindSpring Networks, (6/1999 - 2/2001).
MindSpring was a consistently top rated dialup and broadband ISP that merged with EarthLink in March of 2000. EarthLink later
acquired OneMain in June of 2000. OneMain operated primarily in suburban and rural areas with numerous island-AS networks. The
Regional WAN Engineer was responsible for day-to-day operations of the national network within a given region and participating in
internal working groups to develop and improve network processes.
• Initially responsible for maintaining the southeastern region consisting of 14 POPs.
• Later responsibilities included maintaining the western-most third of the MindSpring WAN.
• General maintenance of IP routing and switching in WAN, LAN, and data center environments.
• Performed the general duties of IP subnetting, ARIN route maintenance, traffic shaping and balancing.
• Designed and deployed a series of GRE tunnels to maintain network integrity in the event of WAN circuit failure.
• Member of the Internal Coordination group that oversaw highly visible call-center and server-farm network builds.
• Designed and deployed the LAN for the Atlanta national headquarters of EarthLink, a 4000+ host LAN.
• Maintained the first test xDSL point-of-presence for MindSpring prior to national service roll out.
