Objective

I am looking for a rewarding and challenging position as an Operations Manager or Manager

of Quality Assurance. I am a highly motivated problem solver who works well within a team

structure, either as the leader of the team or a contributing member.

Summary

I have directed daily operations of national, name brand food processing and feed processing

plants. These positions required setup and start up operations of new product lines in each of

my positions. I am well trained in the use of statistical problem solving tools, food plant

sanitation and food safety principles, and team leadership. New projects have resulted in

yield savings of 15 – 20%; quality assurance duties led our companies to single supplier status

with fortune 500 food processing companies.

Experience:

Operations Manager, 2006 – May 2009

Developed, monitored and implemented new plant start up for a feed/food processing

facility. I was responsible for plant production, plant quality, food plant sanitation in two new

facilities located on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. This position included the responsibility for

direct sales to local farmers.

Farmer’s Rice Mill; Largest Supplier of Milled Rice in the Louisiana Gulf Coast Region

Product Compliance Coordinator, April 2006 – October 2006 (contract position)

I was responsible for the development of Master Sanitation Programs, SSOP’s, Good

Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP programs from a “ground up” situation. I also assisted

Farmer’s Rice Mill in establishing a presence in the domestic grain market.

Busch Agricultural Resources Inc.; Largest Supplier of rice and adjunct grains to the largest

brewery in the world

Operations Manager; 2001 – 2006

- Worked with corporate engineering group to design and start up new processing

operations resulting in finished product yield increases of 20% with an estimated net

increase in value of $20,000,000 annually

- Developed HACCP and GMP policies that were critical in becoming the first certified

supplier of rice to Anheuser Busch Breweries

- Worked with plant maintenance personnel to develop preventive maintenance

programs that resulted in 99.5% running time; this represented an increase of 10% in

running hours prior to the beginning of the PM program

- Led sanitation efforts that resulted in 5 consecutive years of 95%+ compliance

(Superior) ratings from sanitation audits from Silliker Inc.

- Designed and installed rice recovery system that increased net returns by $400,000

annually and improved the quality of rice bran processed

- Reduced lost time accidents by 95% and reportable employee incidents by 80% over a

4 year period

Teaching junior and senior level courses in Agri-Business and economics. I was responsible

for the development my own curriculum. I was also voted by students that were in my classes

Riceland Foods Inc.; Worlds Largest Supplier of Milled Rice

Director of Operations; 1994 – 2001

- Worked with industry and research professionals to develop and install new milling

and electronic sorting processes that increased net yields by 15% and increased

estimated revenues by $30,000,000 annually and reduced rework by 10%

- Worked in three plant rebuild and startups during this period training employees to

properly use newer technologies

- Managed 120 hourly and salaried employees

Riceland Foods Inc.

Director of Quality Assurance/Process Control; 1986 - 1994

- Worked to develop RFI’s rice division’s first microbiological and microanalytical

testing lab for use in rice flour and stabilized rice bran, including the design of the

laboratory and training of new lab technicians

- Led the team that performed process control and quality control for rice flour resulting

in sole supplier relationships with fortune 500 companies in infant cereals and snack

foods

- Developed HACCP, GMP and master sanitation programs for RFI’s rice divisions
