Dear Human Resources Manager:
I am writing in hopes that you would consider my resume for any current and/or future
entry-level openings. I am a recent graduate from San Diego State with a degree in
Geography - Urban and Regional Analysis and believe that I can be a valuable asset to
your company.
I began my work career as a restaurant general manager where I d eveloped
organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to communicate
effectively with all levels of staff and company management. As a father, the restaurant
industry wasn't conducive to raising a child, so I took a few years away from the
workforce to help raise my son while at the same time pursuing a bachelor's degree.
As you will see in my resume, I have GIS experience with the City of San Diego - Open
Space Division, during which time I have become well skilled in GIS applicatio ns. I am
very familiar with researching and interpreting engineer drawings and subdivision maps.
I have created and adjusted GIS layers showing pipeline connections between drain
inlets and outlets as well as other components of the city’s storm water conveyance
system. I am proficient with creating and manipulating data in the ArcGIS 9.2
environment including GPS points/lines/polygons as well as aerial photos, parcel lines
and street centerlines. I have created map products for departmental use as well as for
release to the public.
I have concentrated my studies in land use planning and environmental studies which
will prove useful to you in regards to project planning, permitting, and implementation.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my credentials with you at a mutually
convenient time. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me via
mail, phone, or email. Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully yours,
Todd Alexander
