SKILL SET:
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Trainee Intern, Software Professional Services Corp. Oct 2008-May 2009
Software Professional Services Corp is a consulting services company. I worked as a
trainee as a part of my OPT training period. I got trained on advanced 10g DBA concepts
in this organization. I was involved in database development as a part of internal projects.
• Installed Oracle 10g Real Application Cluster (RAC) software with Automatic
Storage Management (ASM) & OCFS2 file system.
• Worked with RAC pre-installation and post-installation tasks on a three node
cluster.
• Installing and configuring Oracle 10g database instances running across a three
oracle RAC nodes on Red Hat Linux 4 Server.
• Setting up streams for the data movement between databases.
• Setting up Oracle Data guard (primary and standby databases) to ensure disaster
recovery for high availability and data protection.
• Troubleshooting with networking utilities like netca, vipca, net manager for RAC.
• Using Oracle export/import utilities to ensure data movement.
• Performance tuning at various levels: application tuning, memory tuning, disk I/O
tuning, database contention, operating system tuning by using various Tools like
STATSPACK, TKPROF, explain plan, optimizer hints and Oracle Enterprise
Manager (OEM).
Graduate Teaching Assistant, CS Dept, Bradley University Aug 2007-Aug 2008
Assisting the professor for grading, research work, paper presentations and conferences.
Providing the basic foundation material for research work for submitting grants.
MS Graduation Project, Bradley University Aug 2007-Dec 2007
We were provided with the project requirements to design and develop models and
modify scripts as per table changes after normalization. Some of the tasks were done
using PL/SQL (TOAD) and mostly ER Studio was used. All aspects of normalization
and redundancy elimination were taken care off. We created database models (logical &
Physical) from the ER diagram provided and also created data dictionary for a rainforest
in Panama to work with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).
As a team member, was responsible for:
• Normalization.
• Analysis of the specifications provided to Bradley University.
• Design and Development.
• Modifying SQL scripts with complex queries to retrieve data.
• Creating data dictionary and making table accessing easy and readable
• Describing and applying constraints on the tables as needed.
• Worked on PL/SQL bug fixing and data handling.
• Developed complex SQL queries to retrieve the data from more than one large table.
.
ABHA powers Limited, India Sept 2006-Dec 2006
Assisted Sr. Oracle DBA’s to monitor databases, taking health checkups, daily automated
RMAN backups, writing SQL shell scripts for backups in Oracle 9i, 10g environment.
• Involved in the design (Logical & Physical) of databases
• Defined backup procedures using daily hot backups and weekly cold backup.
• Creating Databases and all database objects. Database designing, creating
tablespaces, indexes.partitions..
• Used networking utilities like ftp, sftp, ping, tnsping between servers.
• Created Materialized views & normal views, Indexes, Synonyms and Sequences.
• Resolving SQL issues and tuning considerations for different applications.
• Installed and configured Oracle RDBMS on UNIX and Windows environments.
• Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces, rollback segments, etc).
• Developing hot, cold and logical backup SQL scripts to automate the backup
procedures.
• Configured scripts to monitor activity with database.
• Partitioned large tables and created Indexes to increase the performance.
• Generated scripts for daily maintenance activity like analyzing the tables/indexes,
and monitoring their growth rate.
Undergraduate Final Project (Intern): Nov 2005 –Dec 2005
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), INDIA
Worked on the various telephone exchange departments to know the basics of operation
methods in telecommunication.
Area of Interest:
Database Management Computer Networking
Academic Bachelor’s Projects:
Project1: Wired communication through a PC
Project2: Wireless communication through a PC
DESCRIPTION:
The objective of this project is to generate the required code in ‘C’, needed to
create a menu-based interface. It automates the code generation. The project accepts the
input from the user in the prescribed format and generates the required output operation
of operating and controlling electrical appliances by using wired and wireless media. The
project is useful to develop menu-based interfaces to control distant appliances on the
click of a button.
