May 2008 – Current: PLSQL Programming.
Client: Department of Navy
Details: Department of Navy has its own criminal justice system
(DONCJIS). The crime data is obtained from the field reports and
fed into this system in the form of flat files. We are redesigning the
data input and validation checks as a part of bigger development
project for DONCJIS.
Responsibilities: Development and redesign of SQL/PLSQL programs for improved
performance and updates and to suit the changed requirements.
Environment: Oracle 10g, Sun Solaris servers, Oracle SQL Developer, Toad.
Jul 2007-Apr 2008t: Oracle Development
Client: Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives Bureau (ATF)
Details: ATF has an old system for Federal Licensing of Firearms. The
system has a front end of Oracle Forms and Reports (6i) and a
database using Oracle 9i. We are maintaining the system and
planning to upgrade it to oracle 10g.
Responsibilities: Maintenance of forms and Reports, Design of new Forms and
Reports.
Aug 2006-Jul 2007: Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g
Client: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA)
Details: We are working on a pilot project for using Oracle Collaboration
Suite 10g for Content Management. The previous attempts of using
this software on LINUX had to be abandoned because of some
internal problems. When successful, there are plans to make a large
number of documents to about 5000 users spread over a large
geographic area and also to implement hierarchy of privileges over
these documents.
Responsibilities: Installation and Configuration of Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g in
3 tier architecture. Creating and maintaining users and their
privileges. Creating and maintaining work areas and granting

access to various users, transferring contents to proper folders.

Aug 2004-Jul 2007: Communication Information System (CIS) Upgrade:
Client: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA)
Details: CIS-NWSAPP is the system which supports the automation of
Telecommunications Billing database for NOAA, and also
provides data to the main financial system of department of
commerce. This system needed upgrading because of new
technology and changed requirements. The new system is
developed to include and enhance all functions of the older version
and also to include several new requirements and security feature.
The new system will also be web enabled.
Responsibilities: Requirement analysis, study of existing system, design of new
system, database design, design of new interface between CIS and
main financial system, guiding development, technical lead, client
training and support.
Environment: Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, Oracle 10g.,
Oracle Forms and Reports 9i.
Apr 2004 – Jul 2004: Contract Management and Tracking System (CMTS)
Client: Dept. of Army
Details: CMTS was developed to support the management and tracking of
different contracts and task orders issued under these contracts. It
helped the DOA executives to control the finances and personnel
working on different contracts. It also provided in depth financial
analysis of different contracts and help budgeting and forecasting.
The system co-operated with the existing system ECA, which
mainly dealt with the limited aspect of tracking of personnel on
contract. CMTS is Oracle based and uses Java in the front end. On
its completion it was used by multiple contracting offices of DOA.
Responsibilities: Requirement analysis, meetings with the client, system study,
design of database, design of interface between EAC and CMTS,
technical lead, customer training and support.
Environment: Oracle 9i, Unix, Java.
Nov 2003 – Mar 2004: CAMS Conversion Project:
Client: Dept. of Commerce.
Details: This was a conversion project for the Financial Accounting system
for the Dept of Commerce. The original system was developed
using Forms 3.0 and ran against Oracle 7 database on Unix

platform. The system had high number of Forms and Reports. We
converted these forms and reports to 6i version against Oracle 8i
database and in the second phase they were redesigned and
converted to version 9i and web enabled.
Responsibilities: Conversion of Forms version 3.0 to Forms 6i using the Kumaran
conversion tool, changes to suit the GUI platform, testing and
monitoring the workflow.

Mar 2000- Apr 2003: BTS (Bureau of Transportation Statistics)

Details: This system supported the collection of Financial and Operational
data from thousands of transporters in US. We started with a very
sketchy database, which was in MS Access and over a time
evolved the Oracle based system with client server and web-
deployed modes for collection and distribution of data.
Responsibilities: Requirement analysis by discussion with the users, study of the
existing system and database, Design of new Oracle database,
migration of data from old MS Access database, development of
Forms and Reports with PLSQL library for data entry,
development of extensive PLSQL procedures and packages for
validation of data, help to users to understand the potential of
Oracle based system and enhance the utility of the application,
quality checks and automation of some parts of the system, web
deployment of the application for data collection and distribution,
supported all users.

Feb 99- Feb 2000: MSDE Student and Teacher Enrollment System
Client: Maryland State Department of Education
Details: This system was designed to automate and monitor the process of
enrollment of students and teachers for different courses offered by
the schools and colleges in the state of Maryland. The web user
loaded the data, triggered the validation process over the web, and
receive the results of validations and analytical reports over the
web.
Responsibilities: Study of requirement of users and the legacy Cobol system,
finding the shortcomings of the legacy system and possible
improvements with the new Oracle based system, meetings with
the user to formulate the design of new system, system design,
development of GUI standards, development of Forms and
Reports, development of extensive SQL and PL/SQL libraries for
the application, automation of the validation procedure on server,
web deployment of the application, installation and support at
client site.

Client: State Govt. of Pennsylvania.
Details: This was a Retirement Accounting System for employees of
Pennsylvania State. It maintained the retirement accounts and
details of contributions, deductions, withdrawals and benefits and
generates various reports.
Responsibilities: Improvements to Forms and Report, conversion from Forms 3.0 to
4.5 and from Pro*c reports to Oracle Reports 2.5, Pro*C and
Pro*Cobol programs, SQL/PLSQL procedures and packages to
support the changed requirements, development of new procedures
and tuning of the application, development of new Forms and
Reports, Unix scripting.
Nov 97- Jan 98: Warehouse Inventory System
Client: Dayton’s – Minneapolis
Details: This was an inventory control system for warehouse. It provided
for identification of material in a large warehouse, reservation for
shipments, requisitions and similar things for controlling the
inventory.
Responsibilities: Testing and debugging of the application, Unix scripting.

Jan 96- Oct 97: APEX (Automated Proration Expert)
Client: Emirates Airlines, New Zealand Airlines, Continental Airlines
Details: This is a specialized product developed by Kale Consultants Pvt.
Ltd. (India) for handling the crucial part of Proration in an
Passenger Revenue Accounting (PRA) System for airlines. The
system works on the Airline ticket data. The revenue for each
ticket is distributed into different sectors and different airlines
serving on these sectors. This depends on the type of ticket and
also on the rules and regulations set by the IATA (International Air
Traffic Authority) and the mutual agreements between airlines
(SPA). APEX works on the ticket data entered into the PRA
system during every shift and returns the analysis to the main
accounting system. It can be coupled with existing system of
Passenger Revenue Accounting.

preparation of Sales Invoices and various analytical reports.
