Senior Vice President, Global Operations (Spear Leeds & Kellogg) 2002– 2006
Led multiple departments comprised of 30 people, accountable for the clearance, reconciliation, and
control of U.S. domestic securities settlement. Responsibilities included performance/salary
management, budgeting, project management oversight, disaster recovery planning, and recruiting.
Successfully re-engineered support- and control systems, and upgraded talent while keeping up-to-
date with new regulatory requirements.
Reduced the firm’s fail rate and negative exposure related to aging and failing trades by more
than 80%: With limited IT support, took the initiative to create and implement an Access-database
reporting system to maintain controls, which became a powerful reporting tool used by several
departments/division supporting a variety of reporting needs.
Developed a procedure manual, including a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan, which
decreased dependency on key personnel and mitigated risk:
- All processes and critical job elements were identified and documented within a 3 month
period.
- Facilitated knowledge transfer during a period of layoffs and department transfers when the
depth of experience and knowledge was quickly deteriorating.
Designed new systems and support tools to meet new regulatory requirements related to Short
Selling, and actively defended the accuracy of the Company’s process and interpretation of
rules during NYSE/SEC audits.
- Coordinated efforts between Operations team, Legal, Compliance, and IT to implement a
system, while the Regulatory bodies continued to amend the standards/rules.
- Worked with regulatory body’s auditors in conjunction with our internal compliance team, to
examine and verify accuracy the Company’s interpretation of the regulation.
Introduced and implemented a new automated Performance Review system within the
department, resulting in more comprehensive and meaningful reviews, and a greater focus on
employee and team development: Within 3 months all employees were trained on the system, and
participated in the process which included a 360 assessment and employee development discussions
and action plans.
Successfully initiated and led a plan to cut costs by outsourcing multiple functions to our team
in Hyderabad, India:

Servicing. Other responsibilities included performance/salary management, budgeting, project

Successfully introduced a Western management style, while implementing and upgrading a variety
of Global support systems.
Recognized by senior management around the globe for accomplishing the challenging
task of resolving the adverse effects resulting from an operation “glitch” during the
settlement of the largest IPO in GS/Japanese history - thereby significantly reducing financial and
reputational losses for the Company:
- Led a team to investigate why thousands of trades were miss-applied and closed out in error
for nearly a 3 week period, resulting in compounding errors adversely effecting hundreds of
clients’ statements and accounts.
