Medical Division produces medical devices such as patient monitors and ultrasound imaging systems,

which obtain physiological data from patients, and clinical information systems, which document,

retrieve, and analyze patient data.

Project Leader- Patient monitoring and Central Station network team

• Design and implementation of a network tool used for estimating packet transit time and routes.

• Identified key product architecture and issues, work breakdown schedule and task assignment,

participation in weekly communication meetings, design, coding and test plan inspections of team

members, and performance reviews for summer intern students.

• Leadership, design, implementation and testing of the wireless capacity manager subsystem. The

capacity manager is part of a set of embedded management services used to gathers statistics from

wireless access points and switches using SNMP and determines the health and capacity of the

wireless network.

• Leadership, design, implementation and testing of fault tolerant network replication BootP and

TFTP Services.

• Design, implementation of a network Client/Server tool used for simulating TCP/IP and UDP/IP

unicast, broadcast, and multicast traffic on the network. The tool allows users to set burst time,

inter-packet delays, packet size, other network parameters, and collect network statistics over time.

• Leadership, design, implementation, documentation and testing of application used to collect and

display Ethernet MIB statistics from the 10/100 Mbit switch ports.

• Specification, design, documentation, test plans, and testing of the Ethernet based medical network

infrastructure (switches, repeaters, UTP, fiber) and topologies. Specific activities included

simulating worst-case network loads, error injection on Ethernet lines to characterize time delays

and real event conditions on the medical network. Evaluation of network management tools

including Cisco Works, OpenView Network Node Manager and SNMPc.

• Leadership, design, implementation and testing of TCP/IP and UDP/IP embedded network services.

These include discovery of devices on the network, name service, time synchronization and activity
