Example Application: Elevator Safety Bulletin Compliance Tracking – Company needed a way

of ensuring that safety issues with installed elevators were repaired promptly.

Created database with (a) contact information for maintenance personnel in all distributor

offices (US, Canadian and international), (b) safety bulletin information and (c) installed

elevator information. Provided fields, triggers and stored procedures to log complete audit

information (what was done, when and by whom). (MySQL)

Worked with key department managers and established procedures to issue safety bulletins

and to determine the list of installed elevators for which a given safety bulletin applied.

Worked with executive management to establish procedure for certifying safety bulletin

compliance. Wrote memo which was then distributed to all branch offices and independent

distributors to inform them of new procedural expectations.

Created a program to automatically notify key personnel for each step of the procedure.

Created a program to automatically notify maintenance personnel in each office on a weekly

basis of the list of elevators serviced by his office for which there were safety repairs

outstanding. (Java)

Created data entry screen in MS-Access (with plans to eventually migrate this to a Java

application) to log receipt of compliance certificates.

Trained office personnel to retrieve compliance certificates (sent via email, fax or postal

service), log them into the database and record them in the document management system.

Created reports to show various displays of safety bulletins, installed elevators and

distributors (MS-Access).
