injection molding and blow molding

• Solid background in polymer surface chemistry, with good understanding of material characterization,

structure-property relationship and utilization towards application development

• Adept, hands-on experimentalist skills on characterizing the polymers thermo-dynamic and rheology

properties using a variety of analytical methods

• Strong understanding of developing process engineering scopes for new processes

• Strong knowledge of Design of Experiment (DOE), Six Sigma principles

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Missouri-Rolla, Rolla, MO 8/2005-Present

Research Assistant

Project I: Synthesis of Novel pH and Temperature Responsive Polymer Material

• Developed and synthesized novel pH and temperature sensitive polyacrylic and polyacrylamide materials

using both free radical and thermal polymerization methods

• Investigated the dynamic swelling and collapsing behavior of the synthesized material with respect to pH

and temperature. Analyzed the molecular interactions to interpret the polymer swelling behavior

• Characterized the synthesized polymer materials structure with FT-IR. Evaluated the physical and

chemical properties of the resulting polymers with DSC and TGA

Project II: Carbon Nanofiber Reinforced Epoxy Based Polymer Composite Material

• Designed and built laboratory scale apparatus to synthesize a new carbon reinforced epoxy resin to

produce a high strength and thermal stability network

• Improved the cured polymer in mechanical property, demonstrated the enhancement of increased glass

transition temperature (Tg) and thermal stability.

• Elucidated the curing kinetics and reaction mechanism of the reinforced polymer composite material

CVD Equipment Corporation, Ronkonkoma, NY 5/2008-12/2008

Process Engineer

Project I: Process Development for ZnO Thin Film Growth on Photonic Application on a CVD System

• Created metal photolithography process on silicon wafer, developed new recipes for epitaxial CVD-grown

ZnO and GaN thin film; Optimized the thin film grow recipes as required to change film properties to meet

customer requirements (thickness, optical properties)

• Evaluated thin film microstructure by SEM, characterized thin film quality by SEM, AFM, XRD, PL and

found out oxygen flow rate played a critical role in forming high quality films

• Analyzed and documented all the data and images to establish process specification; Recommended best

sample preparation and characterization methodologies for project target

Project II: Investigated Chemical Synthesis Formula for Non-metallic Conductive Polymer Material for

ESD/EMI Application

• Investigated the development of an epoxy and bismaleimide (BMI) prepreg material; Developed a process

to integrate carbon fiber mat into epoxy and (BMI) resin system

• Optimized the aerial density of the carbon fiber mat with electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding

property based on customer’s requirements
