EXPERIENCE
Sunoco Refinery 2003- Present
Electrical and Instrument Superintendent
Manage technical staff consisting of Electrical, Analyzer and Instrument
reliability engineers, electrical and instrument craft technicians’ foremen for the
refinery. Setup and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs
for the 69 kV primary distribution system, Honeywell 3000 DCS system, product
and environmental analyzers, tank gauging systems, fluid metering custody
transfer systems and all electrical, digital and microprocessor based control and
monitoring systems throughout the Refinery. Oversaw the maintenance of
rotating equipment vibration and equipment performance monitoring
instrumentation.
Performed equipment failure analysis for reliability improvements.
Interviewed, hired trained and mentored young engineers to perform reliability
engineering tasks. Interview, hired and trained craft Foremen to manage craft
technicians.
Manage process equipment safety system testing program per ISA 84
compliance standards.
Managed arc flash compliance study and implementation per NFPA 70E.
Managed capital improvements infrastructure projects from conception to
installation.
Taught after hour training classes for craft technicians in instrumentation and
control with special emphasis of plc programming and control system trouble
shooting.
SUNOCO LOGISTICS, L.P., Eastern Area Pipeline (1998 to
2003)
Supervisor, Electrical and Instrumentation
As E&I Supervisor, I manage various E&I projects within a specific geographic region
(Region III) as well as supervise an hourly team of Instrument and System Technicians.
In this position, I’ve worked through and resolved long-term labor issues; hired and
trained new technicians, as well as coached/mentored poor performers. Developed
project scopes for automation projects for pipeline pumping systems. Work with all
technicians to bring old facilities up to NEC, NFPA and OHSA standards. Assist all Field
Technicians: Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical and System (computer network and
voice and data communication) in trouble shooting and resolving daily operational
problems.
Significant Accomplishments include:
Assisted in the implementation and development of a computer based maintenance
program. Designed and installed ups backup system for network computer system.
Developed and implemented computer based documentation for the Instrumentation
technicians in Region III. Developed and implemented computer based data acquisition
system for computer monitoring, complete with training on how to use the data for
predictive maintenance and trouble shooting. Coordinate training as well as trained
Instrument, communication and network technicians.
Proficient in the development of PLC based control system and panels using, Allen
Bradley, GE.
