Revenue Canada/ Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, March 1992 to April 2008;
Investigator
Investigating individuals and corporations suspected of being involved in fraud
regarding the Income Tax Act or the Excise Tax Act.
Analyzed information and documentation to determine if fraud had occurred or if
Gross Negligence penalties should be applied. Assessed referrals and prepared
preliminary reports indicating whether the referrals should be accepted for
investigation.
Prepared search documents including: Search Informations, Search Warrants,
General Warrants, and Production Orders.
Planned for and conducted the execution of search warrants.
Gathered evidence of fraud (including forensic document analysis when
applicable) and prepared reports to the Department of Justice recommending
prosecution. Prepared Informations to Lay Criminal Charges; prepared disclosure.
Assisted the Crown Attorney in preparing for trial including preparation of trial
books and witness preparation.
Testified at trial and in court proceedings as required.
