Director, Systems Engineering
Reported to the Vice-president, Shared Infrastructure Services. Managed the system engineering,
database administration, voice telecommunications, and messaging groups with a direct budget of
$9.2M and indirect capital budget of $5M.
Scope of Responsibilities
• Provided executive leadership of the engineering and architecture consulting for all
enterprise-class product solutions groups.
• Led systems design and development of enterprise infrastructure, such as data protection,
virtualization, storage, monitoring, and telecommunications.
• Managed custom software development efforts for the security and messaging domains.
• Provided executive management of the enterprise messaging group for 60,000 global email
users and 4,000 Blackberry users.
• Managed database and engineering teams that support 500 TB of shared storage,
approximately 35 enterprise databases, 350 Unix servers and 850 Microsoft servers.
• Participated in regulatory audits (SOX, SAS70, and PCI) and assisted in compliance efforts.

• Assumed an increased level of responsibility each year of current assignment, starting with
11 direct reports in 2004 with a final staffing level of 39.
• Led the global email expansion with growth of 35% over two years while decreasing
customer service tickets by 60%.
• Developed a centralized hotel PBX system and service that would reduce hotel maintenance
costs and telecommunications costs over 60% per property.
• Developed an identity management service for 120,000 users and 25 applications.
• Designed a server virtualization infrastructure that supported 45% of data center servers with
capital and operating cost savings of 40%.

groups: Managed Services and Solution Services. Managed Services provided operations and
infrastructure for internal and external customers. The infrastructure consisted of an externally located
hosting facility and approximately thirty servers (AIX/NT/Linux). The Solutions Services group had
twelve full-time consultants in Application Development, Quality Management, Knowledge
Management, and Project Management and generated approximately $4M in revenue in both Y2001
and Y2002. Other responsibilities included executive sales, third-party vendor management, and
internal business process management.

Reported to the Chief Technical Officer. Directed the deployment all corporate software and
development infrastructure for the development group including programming, requirements
management, change management and quality testing.

SCB was a publicly held management consulting firm (acquired by CIBER).

Managed one large Internet-based application project with twenty staff and $1.2M budget. Developed
a Year 2000 risk management practice for embedded systems and personal computers and built a
