t
Debora independently designed and developed projects for many varied departments within the
corporation. She met with users, gathered requirements, designed solutions, coded systems, provided
documentation, and management reporting. The main work efforts performed at Northrop Grumman
include:
Mobile Technology System (MTS)
MTS is a Microsoft Access application which was used to keep track of the various devices (pagers,
cell phones, calling cards, etc) assigned to employees within the corporation. When bills were
received from the vendors, it would perform processes to allocate the charges to the correct billing
department, and generate transactions to pass to the accounts payable system. Screens were
written to provide flexibility in generating reports or creating data extracts of required information.
Hyperion Budget Data Input form
This was a form, generated in an Excel workbook which contained many input screens, validations,
approval processes, controls, rate lookups, data transfer, email notifications, and intricate VBA code
to allow easy input of budget data, perform validations and other functionality. It would then pass the
data as transactions to a UNIX-based, hyperion, Essbase budget system.
Banking System
The system was in Microsoft Excel with VBA code application developed for the banking department.
It kept track of the daily cash balances in various bank accounts and the anticipated cash
requirements for the future days and months. The amounts reported by the banking institutions were
compared to the projection in reports. The reports were used to plan fund transfers in order to
prevent large cash account balances.
Succession Planning (SOLR)
This system was a COTS Microsoft Access system with extensive code which was internally
modified. It kept track of the top executives within the corporation, and provided for succession plan
reporting, indicating possible successors, their strengths and weaknesses, etc.
XREF
This was a system that Debora did not write, but maintained for a year. It was a system with a Visual
Basic front-end portion and Microsoft Access reporting portion. It had information on all employees,
showing their skill sets so that they could be moved into various programs.
Political Action Committee Contribution (PAC) Match system
Debora designed and wrote this Microsoft Access system which received input files from each
division containing payroll PAC contribution amounts for employees. The data was loaded into a
central database which kept track of total contributions. When employee’s yearly contribution met
certain criteria, the company would match the amount and donate the funds to a charity of the
employee’s choice. Reports were produced to display eligible employees, data validation reports,
total by sector and division, executive VS non-executive amounts, etc.
Corporate Grant System
Debora designed and programmed this Microsoft Access system which kept track of the Charitable
Grants donated by the corporation. It provided reporting of the grant totals, amounts by charity,
charity history, etc.
Tax Department Reporting
Debora wrote this system which accepted tax information data files from each sector. The data was
loaded into a central Microsoft Access database and total reports were generated.
Maintenance of Corporate News Web Site
For a period of time, Debora was responsible for maintaining the articles, links, and photos for the
corporate internal and external web sites. New items were added and deleted using HTML.
Northrop Supplier Data System (NSDS)
Debora wrote this mainframe reporting system using MVS/TSO/ISPF which extracted supplier data
from VSAM files from each of the divisions. The system loaded the data into a mainframe Information
Builders FOCUS file and generated many supplier-rating reports.
Northrop Grumman Cost Management System (NGCMS)
This system extracted data from two main data files. One file was an extract from an Information
Builders FOCUS file (budgets), the other from a SQL server file (payroll data). It merged the data and
displayed many screens allowing the user to easily select various data subsets, various sorts, and
detail drill-down level to generate formatted reports and graphs for Budget VS Actual Performance
Reporting.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
In all the projects, Debora worked closely with the user community for requirements analysis, problem
definition and solutions development. She translated business requirements into specifications and
designed, coded, tested, and implemented reliable applications. She provided estimates, end user
training, and user documentation. She performed to budget and provided status reports for management.
