EDS, Troy, Warren & Detroit, Michigan.
Project Manager, 1995 – 2009.
Effectively led a variety of projects through all phases of the I/T Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Project Planning,
Requirements Gathering, Development, Testing, Deployment, and Production Support. Samples include:
• Requirements Identification / Analysis - Delphi Energy Material Management System: Identified requirements to
determine viability of modifying Delphi Energy’s Material Management System to conform with evolving global
changes after the separation from GM. Developed a comprehensive business case identifying key issues and failure
points in the legacy application. The business case became the basis for a key software development initiative.
• Software Development / Vendor Management - GM Materials Management System: Developed comprehensive
project plan for, and led, successful major upgrade of GM Materials Management system (over 100 programs). MS
Project schedule contained over 4000 line items. Managed the business and financial relationship between the on-shore
Requirements Team of 10 Business Analysts, and 8 off shore contract resources who coded and unit tested the changes.
Result was the first successful major project in the division to perform all coding off shore.
• Testing Requirements - Bristol Meyers Squibb (BMS) Account: Coordinated development of comprehensive business
testing requirements and strategy for deployment of ITIL based Production Support processes by coordinating efforts of
combined EDS / BMS Business Team. Documented key business requirements, built detailed traceability matrices, and
created integrated MS Project test schedule to track key milestones and coordinate work with the development teams.
• Release Management - GM Purchasing: Managed and documented the successful worldwide release and initial
operations support of GM’s Pricing Verification system. Performed several critical Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
investigations, according to GM guidelines, to identify, isolate, and resolve key software and process issues.
• Deployment / Operations Support - GM North American Manufacturing: Planned and managed successful, on-time
upgrade and redeployment of Manufacturing Software to 65 plants throughout North America. Project was re-scoped
several times due to fluid user requirements, including major changes to the plant level SQL server network and Backup
and Recovery environment. Impacts to schedule and budget were minimized by adherence to a rigid change control
process. Instituted an ad-hoc Project Management Office (PMO) to manage the MS Project schedule containing over
1,500 line items and key milestones to track the coordinated testing of 18 impacted critical plant floor applications.
Implemented and led on-going Operations Support based upon the ITIL Incident Management model.
• System Upgrades – GM Remote Users: Provided project management and direct supervision to a technical team of 9
resources that successfully upgraded 1,750 PC’s for GM users in remote locations across North America. First time the
bi-annual upgrade was completed on time and within budget in eight years.
