EXPERIENCE_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Evaluated existing heat exchangers with Aspen Tasc+ software to maximize use of surface area
Modeled distillation columns for separation of ethanol – water mixtures using ChemCad simulation software
Sized and developed data sheets for ethanol plant equipment: pumps, tanks, filters, eductors, distillation columns,
scrubber columns, heat exchangers, desuperheaters, corrosion inhibitor skid
Sized pressure relief devices for stamped vessel design based on the controlling relief scenario
Reviewed P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Drawings) for proper line sizes, manual/ control valve placement, and
special piping requirements such as gravity drains and equipment arrangement
Participated in a PHA (Process Hazards Analysis) / HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study)
Performed commissioning activities prior to plant start-up (piping walk-downs, vacuum testing for piping leaks, etc)
Interfaced with vendors for equipment selection and design related issues
Developed process descriptions for Control Narrative and System Design Specification documents
Determined capital costs to construct ethanol plants
Assisted with the preparation of cost estimate summaries for clients
Updated the template for cost estimate summaries, which was adopted by the company for future cost estimates
Characterized phase separation times for caustic/organic liquid two phase systems to support a solvent retrofit in a
DuPont Plant.
Performed DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter) experiments to characterize the apparent Tg of polymer/
solvent mixture
Supervised preparation of polymer solutions with very hazardous organic solvents
Characterized rates of loss of residual solvents from polymer films using a TGA.
Wrote student user manual for a NOVA Surface Area Analyzer for B.E.T. surface analysis
