PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Director – Systems / Manufacturing Operations, TAKASAGO INTERNATIONAL, 1994- present

Promoted to ever-increasing levels of responsibilities and impacting operations at 2 plants in NJ and one

in Mexico for the world’s 5th largest flavor and fragrance manufacturer (USA operation features a $150

million- 300 employees). Started as Plant & Process Development Engineer, promoted to Assistant

Plant Manager, then Director of Manufacturing and, most recently, Director of Business Systems

Development. Received Takasago’s “President’s Award” in 2005 for outstanding accomplishment for

the Storage Unit Management Project.

Currently in the process of completing a major SAP implementation project integrating 3 manufacturing

sites. Supervise 7 people. SAP modules include: MM, PP, SD, WM & FICO.

As Director of Manufacturing (fragrances), managed with full P&L, all plant operations ($70 million

operation featuring up to 50 employees) including production, processing, equipment, facilities, safety,

compliance, procurement, personnel, planning, quality, inventory, systems, warehousing.

• Reduced: processing MRP by 45%, processing of purchasing invoices 75%, invoicing to

customers by an average of 2 days (increasing cash flow by $1/2 million), extract processing

time 25%, compounding errors 85% and lead times by an average of 2 weeks.

• Increased production 24% w/SUM implementation (including scanning technology).

• Implemented GMP’s in production and warehousing to comply with FDA; received ABA

approval. Reduced outside audits from 3 a year to under 1 a year.

• Drove GLP’s initiatives to raise lab bench-strength and ensure consistent product.

• Improved dramatically physical inventory variances prior to 2005 variance ~ 2-3% to 0.19% or

better over the following 3 years. ($16,000 out of $8,5000,000)

• Purchased / installed an automatic compounding robot and integrated it within SAP system.

• With scanning, have virtually eliminated errors in GR, goods movements, compounding,

shipping & delivery. Received the co’s. “President’s Award” for this project.

• Achieved JSOX compliance by installing controls that reduced variances to less than 0.2% and

reduced physical inventory from 5 days to 1.5 days.

• Created an excel macro for production planning to maximize tank utilization and eliminate

product losses. Increase tank utilization by 25%.

• Increased profitability, stopped the loss of revenues, and customers through effective SAP

implementation project.

Plant / Project Engineer, CROMPTON & KNOWLES, 1993-1994

Ran day-to-day activities (with 2 direct reports) involving all plant maintenance, safety, capital

equipment, and engineering.

• Installed a $1 million manufacturing process in IL and NJ for new products lines as well as

moved / installed one in NY and a bulk silo flour system in TX.

• Solved “Oreo Cookie filling” problem of not being food grade. Utilized a Macintosh drawing

program to lay out the entire process down to the valves and ferrules and what needed to be

welded because I was not able to be there to directly supervise and on a very tight budget.

Manufacturing Supervisor / Logistics Manager, SMITHKLINE BEECHAM, 1989-1993

During tenure, managed a wide range of day-to-day operations including: supervision of 13

compounders in the manufacture of toiletries; and full responsibility for long-range production planning

of the plant.

Served as direct liaison between corporate and plant to ensure sales requirements were met nationally

and internationally.

• Realized significant savings, for a new product launch, by combining 2 processes into one. Cost

avoidance of $38,000 for a new tank and installation.

• Through negotiations and influencing vendors to get certified, reduced lead times for packaging

materials from 4 to 2 weeks.

• Reduced headcount in warehouse 30% by better training and reorganization.

*Prior to 1989, was Tech Service Engineer for NATIONAL STARCH & CHEMICAL for 2 years;

before that, worked 1 year with REHEIS CHEMICAL as a Process Supervisor; before that, worked 2

years with DANNON YOGURT as Production Supervisor and previously started career as

Manufacturing Supervisor with BEECHAM PRODUCTS (1982-84).
