Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Entry Level Software Engineer position within your company. I believe that my

education and experience qualifies me for this position. I have recently completed my Bachelors of

Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering Concentration from Arizona State University (ASU),

located in Tempe, Arizona. While obtaining my degree I held several positions in the service industry,

working for exclusive resorts in the Scottsdale, Arizona area.

I am a self motivated individual that strives for success in any opportunity that may arise. I have excellent

written and verbal communication skills, and am able to relate to both technical and non-technical team

members. One of my personal goals is to obtain Masters Degree in the field of Computer Science.

I have extensive knowledge with many programming languages across multiple paradigms and operating

systems, including but not limited to the following: Java, C#, C++, C, Prolog, ADA, Scheme, and the

ability to learn new languages quickly.

In five years I have acquired experience with many Integrated Development Environments (IDEs). I have

extensive knowledge in Netbeans, Eclipse and Visual Studio 2005/2008. I am proficient in using these

IDEs to develop, test, debug, and optimization code. I have working knowledge of the following: .NET

technologies, ASP.NET, extensive Object Oriented Design (OOD), Service Oriented Computing (SOC),

markup languages (XML/XML schema), scripting languages, and relational and hierarchical database

technologies (My SQL/MS SQL).

During my senior year at ASU, I was required to complete a two semester senior capstone project. The

capstone project, partners private industry software companies with a team of ASU software engineers

acquiring valuable work experience while providing free labor for these companies. My team’s capstone

was comprised of two projects that reported directly to the Vice President of Product Development and

the Lead Software Engineer. The team was required to meet aggressive deadlines providing weekly status

reports on the project. In addition, write a comprehensive report for the professor which monitored the

capstone projects. The first project was a rich web application developed in C#. The team was required

to learn Microsoft’s newest Framework .NET 3.5. I was the project lead for the Windows

Communication Foundation (WCF) runtime module. However, I participated in all aspects of the project.

The second project was developing a video conversion service in C/C++. Due to my senior capstone

projects, I obtained hands on experience working in an agile development team. At the conclusion of each

project the team was required to demonstrate the successful completion of the project to company

executives.

I believe my education, experience, and strong work ethic makes me an excellent candidate for this

position. I look forward to speaking with you at your earliest convenience regarding this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Ryan Chulick
