Callidus Software, Inc., San Jose, California July 2008 to
July 2009
Senior Technical Writer
Produced all documentation for the TrueMBO product, a web-based management-by-objectives enterprise
application. Responsibilities included online help for both the administration and self service clients, maintaining
the data dictionaries, release notes, and helping with QA feature testing. Callidus transitioned from waterfall to
agile development at the time I came on board, and documentation was in the process of moving from paper to
online help.
Other projects included updating online help for the Callidus Portal and TrueProducer products, producing the
upgrade guide for the Callidus suite of products, and assisting the Tech Pubs team as needed.
IBM Corp., San Jose, California August 2007
to July 2008
Technical Writer (long term supplemental)
Responsible for improving documentation for the multi-platform Records Manager product. The project
involved converting existing documentation from SGML to Epic DITA, and adding all topics to a Web-based
product information center. The project’s primary goal was to update and restructure documentation to
improve document consumability and usability.
The first two releases included working with the product usability team to improve installation panels,
embedded help, and conduct document usability tests with customers; and working with developers in China
to update installation and upgrade scenarios. The installation documents and release notes were translated into
six languages.
My final project involved gathering customer feedback from field engineers to drive document content with
new deployment strategies and use cases; worked closely with the usability team to improve the product user
interface and messages; and redesigning and conducting more document usability tests. This release had the
added challenge of moving from a waterfall development method to agile development.
