Designed an HPLC assay to measure the concentration of GSH and GSSG in rat
hepatocytes.
Worked towards establishing stable transfected cell lines of OATP2 transporter in wild
type MDCK II cells.
Evaluated the transport of substrates of OATP2, 17-Estradiol β Glucuronide and Estrone
Sulfate in rat hepatocytes.

GRADUATE SCHOOL RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Preformulation and Formulation
Conducted preformulation studies to evaluate the effect of drug solubility and
lipophilicity on drug loading efficiency in hydrogels.
Designed and developed in situ forming poly(ethylene glycol) hydrogels for topical
application to eyes and skin.
Evaluated the effect of formulation additives on the dehydration and retention time of
hydrogels on mice skin.
Investigated the stability and accelerated stability of drugs in hydrogels.
Evaluated the effect of crosslinking ratio, polymer and crosslinker concentrations on drug
loading and mechanism of drug release from different hydrogel formulations.
Evaluated the effect of the ratio of PLGA and PLLA on the drug loading and release
profiles of microspheres.

Measured the drug concentration released in vitro using a Reverse Phase High
Performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC).
Evaluated the effect of formulation additives, crosslinking ratio, type of polymer and
crosslinker used and their concentrations on the crystallization temperature of hydrogels
using a Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC).
Evaluated the optical transmissivities of the hydrogels using a UV-Vis
spectrophotometer.
Evaluated the mechanical strength of hydrogels using a Rheometer.
In vitro
Evaluated the effect of solubility, lipophilicity and molecular weight of drugs on
permeation through wounded mice skin.
Investigated the permeation profiles of doxycycline through human cadaver skin,
wounded and unwounded mice skin and rabbits cornea.
Quantitatively measured different inflammatory mediators as endpoints in wound healing
of injured mice skin by RT-PCR and Western blot techniques.
In vivo
Prepared pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study protocols, conducted studies, and
interpreted the data using WinNonlin.
Developed a wound model in mice to study the wound healing efficacy of topically
applied hydrogel formulations.
Conducted pharmacokinetic studies to investigate the bioavailability of topically applied
doxycycline in wounded and unwounded mice.
Conducted pharmacodynamic studies in mice to evaluate the wound healing response
after application of a topical spray on hydrogel dressing by measuring edema,
inflammatory biomarkers and histopathology.
Evaluated the histopathological effect of dose and time of exposure of nitrogen mustard
on the back of mice skin.
Evaluated the pharmacodynamic response of a hydrogel drug delivery system in rabbit
eyes by measuring miosis and intraocular pressure.
Collaborated with the Pharmacology and Toxicology department to evaluate the wound
healing efficacy of a doxycycline hydrogel delivery system in the excised rabbit’s cornea
using corneal organ culture model.
Proficient in handling rodent animal species including mice and rabbits.
Cell and Tissue culture
Performed MTT assay in Human Epidermal Keratinocytes to evaluate the safety of
different developed hydrogel formulations.
Evaluated the concentration and time dependent binding and uptake of RGD peptide in
Human Epidermal Keratinocytes.
Developed and optimized a transfection method for VEGF165 siRNA in HEK 293 cell
line.
Screened the retinal cell line, ARPE-19 to investigate the functional expression of
riboflavin transporters.
