Core areas -

FEA, Product Development, Application Engineering, Testing.

Summary -

M.S in Mechanical Engineering with 11 years experience in areas of Finite Element Analysis,

mechanical engineering, product development and testing.

Extensive experience in FEA with expertise in static/dynamic, linear/nonlinear structural and

thermal analysis.

Proficiency in FEA/ CAE packages such as ABAQUS, PAMCRASH, HYPERMESH, LS-

DYNA, MADYMO, ANSYS and NASTRAN.

Experience working through all stages of product design and development from conception

to launching.

Have completed training and projects in process improvement using Six Sigma (Green Belt).

Experience working with various internal and external customers to resolve design issues.

Good knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes for metal and plastic

components.

Professional Experience -

Senior Structural Engineer (contract) at Fisher Dynamics, MI, USA (Oct 2008 – Mar 2009)

Analyzed full seat structures using LS-Dyna to meet FMVSS 301, FMVSS 225 and ECE 17

standards. Studied effects on various seat components such as back frame, tether bracket,

pivot housing, latching mechanism etc. due to change in thickness, material properties,

location of welds etc.

Optimized various seat components to reduce weight at the same time maintaining overall

stiffness of the structure by removing material, reducing thickness, changing section

properties etc.

Presented results of the simulation to engineers, both internal and external and discussed

issues related to manufacturing, tolerances, material discrepancies etc.

Knowledge/ skills used: Hypermesh, LS-Dyna.

Senior Product Engineer at TRW Automotive, MI, USA (Jan 2005 – Sept 2008)

Managed several projects from its concept phase to its production phase through iterative

FEA analysis.

Worked closely with the Engineering Management team in developing new products to help

meet Corporate Growth Objectives.

Completed various complex simulations to solve production issues on the field, thus ensuring

compliance with customer specifications and standards.

Resolved design issues with customers and management teams by constant interaction.

Completed Six Sigma Training and completed several Green Belt Projects, which involved in

savings of atleast 50K/year.

Worked with Core Engineering group to complete their six sigma project, which resulted in a

savings of 40K/year. Also assisted several other groups in completion of six sigma projects.

Provided ongoing analytical and coordination support from preliminary design phase through

product launch phase.

Knowledge/ skills used: Hypermesh, Abaqus, Pamcrash, LS-Dyna, Six Sigma.

Structural Analyst at TRW Automotive, MI, USA, (Jan 2000 – Jan 2005)

Completed several projects in FEA analysis, modeling and testing of Airbag Systems (Driver,

Passenger, Curtain, Thorax, Knee, Side etc.), Steering Wheels, Seat Belt Systems (Latches,

Anchors, Buckles, Tongues, Retractors etc.) and several other automotive components.

Conducted FEA analysis to study stress, deformation, vibration and fatigue life on retractors,

buckle pretensioners, height adjusters, anchors, D-rings, tongues and several other to

evaluate load carrying capacity under various loading conditions.

Dealt with internal as well as external customers. Presented analysis results and

recommended process changes to the management in TRW.

Reviewed systems and processes, conducted technical investigations of the products,

prepared design specifications and provided recommendations for design modifications.

Attended design review meetings and proposed design changes through presentations and

reports.

Knowledge/ skills used: Hypermesh, Abaqus, Pamcrash, LS-Dyna, Madymo, Optistruct.
