• Completed Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for all service requests.
• Provided on call support 24 x 7 for our North American systems.
• Maintained excellent levels of communication with department and client staff.
System Details:
• The system was divided into the following four parts: Incentives & Claims Support, Claims
Generation & Processing, Payment and Dealer Inquiry & Reporting. The system had 1700
unique incentive programs and processes 19 million claims annually. A total of $11 billion in
annual payments were made weekly to 6000 dealers in U.S., Canada and Mexico.
• The system had 200+ Java Programs/JSP’S, 129+ COBOL Stored Procedures, 425+
COBOL programs, 140+ batch jobs and 80+ DB2 tables.
• The system included a Java front-end with COBOL stored procedures on the
DealerCONNECT platform, a Java front-end with COBOL stored procedures on our Intranet
platform, as well as a batch system that is powered by COBOL and DB2 on the mainframe.
• Technical Environment: IBM Mainframe, Corporate Intranet, DealerCONNECT,
COBOL, CICS, DB2, DIMENSIONS, EZTRIEVE, FTP, FILE-AID, HTML, IMS, JAVA, JCL,
QMF, STORED PROCEDURES, TSO, UNIX, WSAD, XPEDITER
While engaged at DaimlerChrysler Canada from 06/02 to 04/06:
• Successfully launched a brand new Incentives system (UPIC) in July ‘04. The launch of this
new system was the culmination of an 18-month intensive effort. This project was highly
visible at the president and vice president level.
• Successfully developed, tested and implemented an online COBOL IMS program that was
used to communicate with CA7 to trigger production jobs. This COBOL IMS program is
called from a COBOL stored procedure which in turn is called from a Java application. This
Java / Web application controls the Incentive program selection, payment calculation and
release of the weekly Incentive payments to 6000 dealers in North America. A total of $11
billion dollars in annual Incentive payments are made through this application.
• Maintained and enhanced existing IMS online screens that utilized COBOL IMS programs
with embedded DB2 while working on the new WEB application that would replace them.
• Successfully wrote, tested and implemented batch COBOL programs with embedded DB2
to handle new system requirements. This included straight batch and checkpoint restart
programs.
• Successfully wrote, tested and implemented production JCL for new batch jobs.
• Successfully wrote, tested and implemented COBOL stored procedures to read, update and
delete data in DB2 tables to handle new system requirements. These stored procedures are
called from Java programs as part of the new Web application.
• Used XPEDITER to test, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems that occurred in
COBOL stored procedures and programs. This was very useful when system testing the
Web application. It allows you to quickly determine if problems lie in the Java side or the
COBOL stored procedure side.
• Made significant contributions to the development and launch of this new system. This new
system included a Java front-end with COBOL stored procedures on the DealerCONNECT
platform, a Java front-end with COBOL stored procedures on our Intranet platform, as well
