procedures, and ISO requirements skills
Work History
Express Test Services, Inc. 7/93 to present
(Contract Test Equipment and Development Company)
Project/Engineering Manager
Developed a base of customers for a test (capital) equipment and development company;
managed multiple projects that were valued in excess of $ 250K each. Sought, analyzed,
and bid each of these projects, meeting profit margins that were set between 26% and
35%. Projects served customers in the military, medical, control systems, and telecom
industries. Directed and managed a team of 14 engineers and technicians responsible for
development of projects. Created test plans, and managed the programs with customers
and engineering staff to meet the customer’s design criteria and schedules. Was
successful at being able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with
customers and vendors for many years.
Principal Design Engineer
Designed modems for industrial client; used in moderate volume applications. Designed
and built custom active power load box for telecom client. Designed and built custom
ATE for power line communications customer. Current designs include: Bluetooth
communications device, food product assembler/mixer, and notebook type product.
Developed automated functional programs and test systems using LabView, C++,
Boundary Scan, and custom hardware/software (assembly language) equipment.
Micronet Engineering 8/88 to 7/93
(Contract Test Development Company)
Principal Test Design Engineer
Developed a customer base for a new startup test development company for the purpose
of creating in-circuit (GenRad and HP) fixtures and programs for clients; some contracts
worth in excess of $ 100K. Designed and built functional test sets using Testpoint
(Labview competitor), FORTH, C, and assembly languages. Developed and held training
classes for several clients for programming their in-circuit testers.
Concord Data Systems, Inc. 7/83 to 8/88
Manufacturing/Test Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Manager
As test and manufacturing engineering manager, was responsible for development of in-
circuit and functional test systems for Modem’s and LAN’s; was also responsible for
project and department budgets. Managed the introduction of test systems and new
products into local and overseas (Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) operations;
also managed the test and manufacturing engineering staff at the overseas locations.
Conceived and led design team in development of multiple (50) unit test systems that
were used both in-house and at our overseas contract assembly facilities; creation of these
systems led to a significant increase in productivity with a corresponding reduction in
manpower requirements. A measured increase in delivered quality was also realized;
infant and early life mortalities were almost entirely eliminated.
As manager of modem operations, had complete operational control of a department
producing $ 36,000,000 per year; was responsible for operations budgets, all personnel
decisions, training, and meeting production goals; increased revenues 28% within 3
months by realigning production flow and job tasks.
Sr. Test Engineer
Created the test engineering department; initially responsible for functional test station
design and development, along with in-circuit programming, for new telecom products
(modems and LAN’s). Software was developed on “FORTH” language. Designed test
systems (including rack and stack, and board level) for modems and LAN’s. As the
Senior Engineer, created design for test and design for manufacturing rules, as well as a
comprehensive set of test plans and systems for both LAN’s and Modems.
