• Purchasing responsibility for 117 suppliers for AAS/SportRack which was a Tier 1 automotive supplier of
roof racks before closing in February 2009. AAS had four plants: a metal roll forming plant in Port Huron
(22 roll mills), a roof rack manufacturing plant in Port Huron, and two injection molding/roof rack
manufacturing plants in Shelby Twp., and Sterling Heights (58 injection molding presses ranging from 100 to
2200 ton).
• Controlled, supervised and was responsible for all quoting, sourcing, price negotiations and issuing of blanket
PO’s and contracts on the following products and services: plastic resins, injection molded components,
galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastic extrusions, aluminum extrusions, e-coating and powder top
coating, base coat/clear coat painting, chrome plated metal and plastic, zinc and aluminum die casts,
stampings, foam gaskets, fasteners and packaging. Annual spend ranged from $90 to $120M in peak years.
• Developed and executed purchasing strategies to support organizational objectives on cost, quality, delivery,
and technology.
• Successfully teamed with engineering, manufacturing, and quality in the launch of numerous programs over
the years with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Kia and
Subaru.
• Detail oriented individual that has the ability to get things done right the first time. Known as a level headed
thinker and problem solver. Savvy, street smart purchasing professional that commands the respect of my
suppliers.

• Resourcing, market tests and vendor base reduction efforts contributed millions of dollars of savings to
AAS/SportRack during my 17 years of employment with the company.
• Established, implemented and maintained since initiation, the required documentation for adherence to QS
9000, TS 16949 procedures (including approved supplier list).
• Negotiated settlements with suppliers on rejected/defective materials and subsequent debits.
• Assisted Low Cost Country team in establishment and administration of new suppliers in Taiwan and China.
Have knowledge of valuable contacts in both of these countries.

contributed to AAS being a leader in their field.

• Proven ability to have managed purchasing activities through six company name changes, four relocations,

• Was responsible for all pricing and sourcing decisions on all production and MRO materials for two injection
molding and glass encapsulation facilities. One person department with annual procurements of $30 million.
• Complete decision making responsibility on all purchasing matters. Functioned independently while
reporting to company controller.
• Successfully designed complete reorganization and restructuring of purchasing department to improve raw
material scheduling – inventory levels and paperwork flow. Requoted and resourced many materials and
contracts resulting in substantial savings.
• Materials purchased included PVC, PP, ABS, nylon, glass, cartons, stampings, extrusions, paint, adhesives,
gaskets and all miscellaneous items used to support production. Ordered, released and expedited 450 part
numbers plus all others associated supplies and MRO material.
