Evolved an IT group of seven programmers to an Application Development staff of thirty two full time
associates and eight contractors focused on delivering solutions for a 270+ store retailer with over $1.3
billion in annual sales.
Director, Applications Development. 2001-2009
2009 Led the IT effort to migrate Stein Mart from a direct ship model using UPS to a Supply
Chain model. Once fully implemented this project is estimated to save the Company $40 million
dollars a year.
2008 Led the development effort to migrate from the Domino/Notes/ Websphere
Portal/Sametime collaboration stack to the Microsoft MOSS/Sharepoint/Communicator stack.
2008 Launched a new version of the in store receiving application that both improved
functionality and replaced Visualage RPG with .NET.
2007 Participated in the end user selection of a new Merchandising System. Oracle was chosen
from a short list that also included SAP and JDA. This project was deferred due to the economic
downturn and the new Supply Chain initiative.

o Reported to CEO.
o Worked with IBM to perform an IT assessment. Many of the elements from this
assessment are in place today.
o Initiated a new process to develop the Fiscal 2007 budget and to better track paid
invoices.
o Resolved a long standing issue between Stein Mart and GE Capital involving a lease
termination.
o Established quarterly customer service awards to acknowledge outstanding customer
service within the Infrastructure/Operations, Applications Development and Support
Services groups.
2006 Assumed full control of Stein Mart’s relationship with its POS business partner. Transferred
360 commerce licenses from Torex to Oracle and began the process of migrating Stein Mart
away from 100% outsourced Store Systems development to a more healthy and balanced
approach with a small in house Store Systems group and Agilysys as a new Store Systems
business partner. This ongoing process includes:
o Upgrading to ORPOS v13, replacing a custom credit switch with ISD, replacing a custom
stored value system with ISD, replacing custom encryption with an RSA appliance,
implementing Oracle Returns Management, implementing ORPOS’s Central Office,
implementing Websphere MQ Remote and changing to PED compliant Verifone
devices.
2006 Successfully executed the Stein Mart Master Card program in 110 days. This program has
driven in excess of $19 million to Stein Mart’s bottom line in its two and half years of operation.
2006 Successfully implemented systems integration with Profitlogic/Oracle’s Price Optimization
solution. As a result, Stein Mart was able to: markdown by zones rather than chain wide,
increase margins and better manage inventory.
2005 Led the IT effort to make Stein Mart a PCI compliant level one merchant. Developed an
iseries based key management, encryption and decryption system.
2004 Led the effort to expand the applications on the PPT devices to include a price lookup
function used to manage markdowns which allowed Stein Mart to realize labor savings.
2004 Worked with Stein Mart’s POS business partner to acquire Linux based touch screen
registers and 360 commerce V6 in an effort to migrate Stein Mart off of 4690.
2003 Led the IT effort to put the necessary measures, controls, policies and procedures in place
to make Stein Mart compliant with Sarbanes Oxley from both an IT and overall Business
perspective.
2003 Implemented all POS, Store back office, Wireless Network and Corporate systems changes
to support a new leased shoe provider in 60 days. This project represented our first production
use of Symbol PPT’s.
2003 Led the effort to replace a 4690 based receiving system with a PC based system utilizing
Visualage RPG and SQL server.

Assumed the additional responsibility for managing the acquisition of all AS400/iseries systems.
Negotiated price and lease terms.
Assumed control of the Evolution COBOL code base after Intrepid was acquired by Peoplesoft
and Peoplesoft dropped the product.
Negotiated a license transfer from Intrepid’s Decision Master to a standard MicroStrategy
solution set. This established MicroStrategy as Stein Mart’s Business Intelligence tool.
Manager, Applications Development. 1997-1999
Assumed full responsibility for all of Stein Mart’s ERP systems and all Application Development
activity.
Led a one and half year effort to replace Stein Mart’s Lawson Merchandising system with
Intrepid’s Evolution running on an AS400.
Resolved the CFO’s issue with the Perpetual Inventory not matching the Retail Stock Ledger.
Resolved the CEO’s issue with inaccurate and late sales data.
Assumed responsibility for an OS2 based Domino server being used by Store Operations,
migrated it to an AS400 and deployed Notes email to all associates within the Corporation.
Successfully upgraded all systems for Y2K.
Successfully standardized Accounting and Merchandising on the same 4-5-4 calendar and
modified systems to work with 53 week years.
