Directed staff of programmers, analysts, and hospital personnel in the development
and implementation of state of the art systems using MPI technology. The system
was written using Cold Fusion and SQL Server.
Led the installation of a clinical data repository (Oacis). As with all current system
development efforts, the systems were built to function on the Internet. The new
development work was done using MQSeries, Rational Rose and Sybase System

W orked as Project manager to convert several hospitals from the Columbia version
of Meditech to the street version. Implemented a VPN for use with the Hospital
systems.
1994 – 1997
HEALTHEON/ACTAMED/WebMD, Atlanta, GA

Directed the entire project to a successful implementation of the first Community
Health Information Network in the country. Activities included the construction and
population of a new data center (IBM SP2 frame)
Led the analysis, design & development as well as the implementation of the
software. The project includes interfacing information from 20 hospitals, 2 large
payers, and 1500 doctors to create an Enterprise wide Electronic Medical Record
system. The system was written to use Java which at the time was very new and
untried
As the Chief Architect, led the effort to insure the scalability and maintainability of
multiple releases of the product set. The system was written using C++, Corba,
Java, and Sybase. Ported the product to both Oracle and SQL Server

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Launched an IT consulting firm and increased profit margin at a rate higher than the growth of staff.
Grew the company into Healthcare, State Government, and general IT Consulting. IMPACT: Profit
increased from 20% with 4 people to 35% with 40.
Managed the development and delivery of software used in the managed care and general
healthcare arena. Ran the entire development and maintenance shop for a very large Healthcare
software provider, handling all facets of the SDLC as well as release content and management. This
included a large staff of in-house developers as well as a very large outsourced staff. RESULT:
Company went public and quickly became one of the most successful providers of software and services
in the industry.
Led the team that designed and implemented innovative software to locate absent parents for the
Southeast region of the US in Support of the Child Support Enforcement Department. Compiled locate
information and data from multiple sources into one central database. IMPACT: Increased the location of
absent parents 150% the first year and is still in use today among multiple regions.
Managed the development and implementation of one of the nation’s 1st Community Hea lth
Information Networks (CHIN). RESULT: Network allowed 19 hospitals to share information about
patients and treatments providing for much superior regional healthcare. The development team
consisted of 80 developers.
Led the team that developed software to accept and process Student Loan Applications . Analyzed
existing product and re-engineered software in a 9 month period. RESULT: Business tripled in revenue
and later purchased by competitor. Today, software is used by over 1500 universities.
Implemented and taught Process Re-engineering and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
methodologies used to develop new computer systems and redo existing systems. RESULT: The client
companies were able to build lower cost, superior quality computer systems.
Developed and implemented the industry accepted methodology for insuring the validity and
uniqueness of medical records. The hospitals industry average is between 15 and 20% duplicate
medical records. RESULT: The hospitals using this software practicall y eliminate duplicate medical
records providing much superior healthcare.
