Highmark is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association
which is a national organization of 38 independent regional health insurance
companies in the United States. Both organizations trace their histories to health
plans that were created around the same time in two different parts of the U.S. The
evolution of managed health care in the United States is intimately linked to that of
the Blue Cross-Blue Shield plans.
Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield insurance companies are franchisees, independent of
the association (and traditionally each other), offering insurance plans within defined
regions under one or both of the association's brands. Main objective of the project is
strategy by centralizing data into a DB2 repository for access by multiple
applications, Drive down cost by eliminating expensive licenses for LEGACY
database management systems and related tools thereby reducing the risk and
workload associated with system rewrite and manual conversion. The project is a
conversion project from IMS to DB2, involves conversion of IMS calls to DB2
calls

Identifier program which generate reports that ensure that team members can
preview selected fields and columns to ensure that the migration addresses all
requirements for date conversion and key mapping.
Application Maintenance & Control – successfully retrofitted all the enhanced
modules impacted by the conversion of IMS calls to DB2.
