Role: Mainframe Application Developer and maintenance

Tools and technology: ISPF, SPUFI, COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, VSAM, Rexx

Application: Carrier Access Billing System (CABS)

Description:

Carrier Access Billing System (CABS)

This application is primarily used for billing Inter exchange carriers (IXC) and other end users

for the use of wireless/wire line network. The development of the CABS system started in 1983

to create and generate bills for access charges. The CABS billing system was created as a result

of the AT&T® divestiture in 1984. It is an Application Support and enhancement project for

the Telecom Company's various applications on Service orders, Billing, Cash, Usage domains.

The Project team focuses on system production and maintenance activities. They ensure

business systems are stable, contributing to Client's ability to deliver world class service.

My Role:

Have played several roles during my tenure in the project.

• As a developer built various one time application programs (Scrubs) from scratch to make

changes to the original database as per client requirements.

• As a Service request analyst (SRA) which involves creating service request for system

enhancements and further implement the stated request in the system and gives the

acknowledgment of the completion of the request to the client.

• As a developer we fix the bugs mentioned in service request from customer and are also

responsible for maintaing the code on release time.

• Ability to work with various stake holders to collect and pen down clear cut requirements

for small enhancements to the system and support them from its initiation to install in

production.

• Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) utilizing waterfall methodology

and Information technology Infrastructure library (ITIL) processes for production support

activities

• Team player and a self starter with excellent communication skills, presentation and

interpersonal skills with exceptional ability to build productive relationships with

colleagues, clients and vendors across all functional and technical disciplines
