SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive engineering experience with combined background in manufacturing, quality, and mechanical

components. Proven excellence in product commercialization, lean manufacturing implementation,

problem solving, root cause/corrective action, defect reduction and cost saving activities.

• Highly motivated team player with excellent communications and documentation skills.

• Recognized for superior performance and exceptional work ethic.

• Customer driven, self motivated, experienced in working in a results driven environment.

• Recognized expertise in manufacturing processes involving elastomers, plastics and foam.

Experience

Eastman Kodak, Rochester NY

Manufacturing Engineer-Graphics Communications/Digital Printers (2005-2009)

• Implemented a significantly redesigned complex low cost fuser assy to production. Change

involved the elimination of 100+ parts & addition of 50+ new parts and assemblies, development

of several unique assembly fixtures, numerous witness assemblies, retrofit redesign activity to

improve machine performance, BOM accuracy verification, & tracking of critical to function

process data to validate production readiness.

• Provided engineering & quality support for the commercialization of 3 major higher speed fuser

assembly model platforms; utilized ECO, Waiver, Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis,

Corrective Action, & Product Deviation processes. Managed supply chain effectivities, witness

assembly process, corrective action eco’s and assembly procedure development.

• Developed reconditioning process for a color print glossing unit, color print high capacity

delivery unit, and fuser assemblies that resulted in significant cost savings ($20K/unit).

• Supported the transfer of a complex subcontract manufactured print glossing unit to an internal

assembly process. New supplier parts, assemblies were qualified and a main line build process &

procedures were established within an aggressive schedule. Required detailed witness assemblies

and extensive corrective action ECO’s; resulted in a design robustness improvement, with a 10%

lower UMC .

• Provided Service Engineering field troubleshooting support, critical parts supply, manufacturing

input for design modifications resulting in minimal downtime & high customer satisfaction.

• Implemented a Strip & Salvage fuser assembly process by identifying parts & establishing

process with subcontract supplier, resulting in significant cost savings.

• Led Kaizen process focused on floor inventory reduction, resulting in a 35% space reduction and

a $30K inventory reduction.

• Root Cause/Corrective Action: Paper Skew -Identified problem as excessive drag torque from

contact seal bearing in Registration Rollers & implemented a non-contact sealed bearing resulting

in $20K/yr repair cost savings with an estimated annual Field Service cost avoidance of $30K/yr.

Heater Roller Ay motion sensor failure-Identified problem as excessive & non-uniform anodize

thickness, resulting in an estimated Field Service cost avoidance of $60K/yr.

Manufacturing Engineer-Graphics Communications/Digital Printers (continued)

• Managed the qualification process of complex Cleaner Assys that resulted in a cost savings of

$30K/yr. Paper Feed Belt/Service- Identified a new supply chain for a highly custom paper feed

belt- managed quotation & manufacturing process selection, reverse engineered obsolete

materials, & identified existing tooling. Resulted in minimal qualification testing, short lead-

times, high customer satisfaction, & an estimated savings of $40K.

Manufacturing Engineer- Imaging Systems/Thermal Printers-Kiosks (2000-2004)

• Generated/updated assembly procedures, & provided associated training per ISO requirements.

• Led redesign & implementation process for a roller artifact problem resulting in a significant

performance improvement & annual manufacturing cost reduction of $230K.

• Significant cost reductions implemented through participation & leading Kaizen events. Order

Station Kaizen achieved a 36% throughput improvement, 13% cycle time, 35% floor space, 70%

inventory & 76% walking reductions.

• Provided a BOM standardization process designed to leverage common parts; improved new

product commercialization process by reducing inventory backflush errors & the throughput time

to release & implement ECO’s by 20%.

• Recognized expertise in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action resulting in significant

quality, productivity, and cost control improvements: Photo print cut length and cut angle

improvement resulting in a $54K/yr cost savings. Side Edge Fold artifact improvement- $25K/yr

saving. Registration problem identification & resolution-$30K/yr saving.

• Engineering change process experience in support of new product commercialization, supply

chain process, cost reductions, & product performance improvements. Products included Photo

CD Writer/Duplicator, CD Slide and multiple Kiosk Payment Processing Systems platforms.

Materials Engineer/Materials Management Organization/Commodity Management (1987-1999)

• Provided design support, process & supplier selection for mechanical parts used in toner/light/air

sealing & roller/belt/media transport applications. Power transmission, filtration, pressure sensitive

adhesives, and films also supported. Resulted in numerous cost savings & cost avoidances.

• Developed supplier strategies with Material Procurement Commodity Management.

• Performed supplier technical & quality evaluations; developed commodity strategies; active in early

supplier involvement process; estimated rough order & target costing for custom parts.

• Generated preferred or standardized strategies for commercial components; established mechanical

part formats for a Retrieval Classification System database.

• Authored Technical journal articles; Co-inventor on 3 patents, involving toner seals and edge guide.

• Reverse engineered custom rollers, belts, filters resulting in over $100K cost savings.
