QUALIFICATIONS
As a current Director of Facilities, responsible for the facility when the Executive Director is absent and
with over 22 years of experience in the field, I fully meet the qualifications to fill your current open
position. I have managed and operated class A office buildings, homes for the elderly, nursing homes,
storage facilities, garages, parking lots, fitness centers, penal institutions and daycare facilities ranging
from 50,000 sq. ft. to 425,000 sq. ft. with totals of 1.5 Million sq. ft. in a single zone during my years as a
Vice President, Chief Building Engineer, Building Engineer and Maintenance Mechanic
This has required the supervising of all facets of labor including but not limited to building managers,
HVAC mechanics, electricians, painters, maintenance mechanics, custodial supervisors and their workers,
semi-trades helpers, and skilled trades helpers. The monitoring of contracts and contractors, such as
HVAC, Dietary, life/safety, water treatment, landscaping, and snow removal, to ensure that projects are
completed on time according to plans and specifications are one of my assets that I could bring to this
position. I have experience in electrical, building automation systems, plumbing, roof top units, package
units, AHU units, boilers, chillers, pumps, life/safety systems, and other associated building equipment. I
have obtained and hold current licenses in the building and plant operation field as well as a Food Handler
Manager’s license from ServSafe that I just received due to the Dietary department is under my
responsibility.
I have also worked closely with building security personnel including County Deputy sheriffs during my
tenure with Prince George’s County Government and with the Federal Protection Services while I was
with REIT Management at the USDA Building. I was a member of the security team for Prince George’s
County Central Services and we were responsible for assessing different County Agency building’s
security procedures and evaluated their properties for security measures.
I developed preventive maintenance programs, procedures, and created policies in my last three positions
in the maintenance and operations profession. I am familiar with MOSHA, OSHA, and other safety
organizations requirements related to building operations. I am a member of the Tri-County Committee
for Residents with Special needs and have worked closely with the Maryland State Government and other
agencies to ensure the safety of the elderly in case of an emergency. I received the St. Mary’s County
Health Hero Award for 2007 for Emergency Management for my dedication to emergency preparedness
and planning in St. Mary’s County.
My budgets have always been close to projections and I have always justified manpower and dollar
resources when needed. I was able to save over $20,000.00 in just the first six months when I started at
Reit Management in 1997 just by reviewing contracts and over $13,000.00 with CCNRC 2007 in about
the same time period.
I have just completed all of the 25 major projects at Cedar Lane Apartments on schedule with the
exception of the interior of the elevator which was beyond my control and most of them were under
budget from HUD.
WORK HISTORY
January 2008 to present as the Director of Facilities at St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly aka Cedar
Lane Apartments.
I was asked and accepted the invitation to return back to Cedar Lane due to the reason
•
that they had obtained the monies to repair the items that needed to be corrected when I
was there before. I am responsible for the not only the maintenance department, the
housekeeping, the laundry department, the Security Department but also the Dietary
Department this time. A lot of my time has been working on the 25 different major
projects, one of the most important was the installation of addressable smoke detectors in
each apartment instead of the hard wired, battery back-up type that were in there before. I
have until May of 2009 to complete all of the projects that also include about 10 projects
in Building Three and a new roof and a new AHU on Building One. As of today, July 27,
2009, I am ahead of schedule on these major projects with the exception of the elevator
renovation which was delayed due to the contractor. I have also been the Director in the
new meal program for the Dietary Department, which has saved us thousands in funds so
far. I recently passed my test and am a ServSafe Certified Food Protection Manager.
December 2006 to January 2008 as the Vice president of Plant Operations at CCNRC Family of Care.
Bud Zimmerman, the CEO/President was my immediate Supervisor 301-***-****.
