Software Development Manager - responsible for process definition and improvement
Led the continuous process improvement effort in the company. Advocated and managed the full
adoption of Javadoc and Junit.
Managed the transition from a poorly performing off-shore team (India) to a team of the highest
professional standard (SoftServe in Ukraine).
Led the Java based and Web 2.0 based Graphical User Interfaces – with focus on the user
experience; the IDE integrations with AccuRev – Eclipse and IntelliJ plug ins (Java based); the
Issue Tracking Systems (ITS) bridges to AccuRev – Jira, Clearquest, Bugzilla, HP Quality Center
(Perl based); the Installation and Documentation teams.

Coordinated the efforts of multiple teams for on time delivery of VxWork releases: software and
hardware development, Integration and Test, Program Office, Marketing and Sales, Product
Management, Documentation, Customer Support, Professional Services; teams distributed
worldwide throughout US, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, China, and India.
Coordinated two off-shore teams (USB development and OS test) in India.
Managed the VxWorks development interface to Intel.
AVAYA, Concord, MA 2002 to 2005
Senior Software Development Manager - Program management and technical leadership.
Acted as the overall Program Manager for the development of a “Network quality monitoring and
path optimization” product, including the due diligence for the acquisition and the integration of two
startups. The product had a sophisticated web-reporting component. Ensured program kept on
course, identifying quickly and correcting any bottlenecks (40 engineers).
Program Leader for a high-density, high-availability IP-to-PSTN VoIP media gateway, with both an
embedded component and a web-based network management component. Coordinated the efforts
of all the R&D teams (~100 engineers), tracked and reported the program status.
Led the Platform and Layer 2 development for a high-speed ASIC-based Switching Router.
Program managed the overall releases for the whole product.
BELL NORTHERN RESEARCH / NORTEL NETWORKS 1987 to 2002
Software Development Manager
Led the Platform and System Infrastructure development of a high-speed Label Edge Router, in an
embedded UNIX environment (OS choice, Hardware interfaces, configuration and maintenance).
Built and led the Technical Support organization for a Nortel VPN product (30 engineers).
Built and led the Canadian Technical Assistance Center, supporting the installation of all Nortel
Networks products in the Canadian market (voice, data, wireless and optical).
Led the development of regulatory and custom features on the DMS-100 digital telephony switch,
including Electronic Surveillance software for multiple markets - US Government(CALEA),
Canadian Government, Germany and Australia.
Designed and implemented a light, real time, multi-tasking kernel, as well as the control, user
interface and communication firmware (X.25, X.400) for a multiprocessor based Digital Test Head.
