Program Management, Plan Development, DRC Site Build and Maintenance: Manage and maintain firm wide
BCP/Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness / Response plans in support of the
organization’s BCP efforts. Partner with firm wide BCP operations department, business units and external vendors to
conduct periodic reviews of the business impact analysis (BIA) to identify and capture updated requirements, determine
corresponding impact, and highlight gaps and issues. Partner with above mentioned business lines to create and update
all business continuity plans to ensure that effective strategies are in place for the recovery of critical business functions
within the required timeframes. Utilized the above studies to organize CTO efforts to build Trading/Operations Disaster
Recovery site in Whippany, New Jersey, consisting of 600 positions (81 departments) as well as Reuters and EBS
Dealing. On an on-going basis, liaise with operations, technology, and external vendor groups to communicate updated
business continuity plan requirements and coordinate the timely implementation of realistic recovery strategies and
solutions at the disaster recovery sites. Work closely with the business heads and product managers to determine the
firm's trading and business strategy, and priority for recovery in the event of a disaster. Support the Pandemic Planning
Committee in the development of the Pandemic Preparedness plan and monitor the implementation of the plans across
the Organization. Establish and maintain monthly firm wide BCP Metrics to report on the status of user testing, state of
plan readiness (BCP, Crisis Management and Pandemic Preparedness) and regulatory compliance. Highlight gaps for
corrective action. Escalate and present outstanding risks to BCP Steering Committee on a quarterly basis.
Testing and Awareness Programs: Coordinate periodic, global testing of the entire Trading Floor Disaster Recovery /
Business Continuity Plan, reporting gaps and results to firm wide management. Manage and report on the on-going
“business as usual” on-site user testing of applications and procedures ensuring business unit ability to conduct regular
trading and execution activities directly from the disaster recovery site. Act as point of escalation for recovery issues
identified during testing. Establish and maintain a BCP Quality Assurance function that conducts monthly testing of the
disaster recovery facility and its’ operational processes to ensure it is continuously equipped with the latest versions of
software, applications and site procedures. Manage, participate and report on various industry wide BCP testing efforts,
such as the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) industry wide BCP tests. Execute annual
table top crisis management exercises and report post mortem results. Organize annual awareness training sessions and
quarterly Emergency Response exercises for the organization. Interact with internal, external auditors and regulatory
authorities with respect to BCP audits and compliance.
Crisis Management, DR Activations and Pandemic Planning: Coordinate the activities of various crisis teams and
business units during emergencies. Examples include the MTA Strike, London Bombing, Orange/War alert as well as
the Republican National Convention (RNC) in NYC, to ensure the firm’s ability to work directly from the disaster
recovery site during this period. Exercised the DRC site RNC activation plan and coordinated CTO support for over
450 people across sites. As member of the firm wide Pandemic Planning committee, developed and implemented the
processing work flow and procedures to successfully use E-Pro (Aspect EnsemblePro) as Bear Stearns Emergency
Notification system in the event of a crisis scenario.
