Analytical and detail-oriented with strong client relationship management skills. Continually entrusted to train and educate junior team members.

Experienced with all types of domestic and international securities valuation, selection, allocation, and portfolio monitoring with both traditional and

alternative asset management firms.

EXPERIENCE:

JMP ANALYTICAL SERVICES, Hoffman Estates, Illinois June 1999 – present

Principal

After leaving Marc J. Lane and Company of own volition, decided to focus on independent contract work to broaden skill sets and to carefully identify

long-term career goals and work environment most conducive to realizing those goals. Representative projects include:

• Spectrum Global Fund Administration, Chicago, Illinois: Supervised 4 - 9 staff members who were responsible for the financial reporting of 4 -

7 client hedge funds. Prepared month-end reporting packages for stand alone and master/feeder structures. Managed client relationships and

priortized workflow to meet clients’ needs in a deadline-oriented environment.

o After 3 months, hired as full-time employee with title of Supervisor, Portfolio Operations: stayed an additional 5 months until mass layoffs arose.

o Reduced by several days the time before deliverables were provided to a major client by resolving many long-standing reconciliation issues.

• ABN AMRO North America, Chicago, Illinois: As a member of the Investment Portfolio Analytics team in their Capital Markets Line of Business

Finance group, analyzed the effectiveness of interest rate swap hedges against a large portfolio of mortgage-backed securities and mortgage

servicing rights for 1 year until a subsidiary of the Bank was sold. Also executed and completed testing for related major system conversion.

“Joe did a good job completing a major system conversion that involved understanding the [relevant] investment securities…asked him

to take on some [other] responsibilities…did a great job working with complex Excel models and analyzing financial

data…demonstrated skills to be a strong analyst and I wanted to offer him a permanent position…couldn’t due to hiring freeze...entire

group was laid off…Joe was a good team member and I would definitely hire him for another investment analysis position.”

– Gary Lee, Former Senior Vice President, Capital Markets Line of Business Finance, ABN AMRO

• Northern Trust Company, Chicago, Illinois: As a Securities Pricing Analyst in the Asset Analysis division, interpreted and analyzed indicative

data and valuation information for domestic and international securities including common and preferred stocks, corporate, mortgage-backed and

government bonds, options, futures, warrants, swaps and mutual funds. Researched pricing discrepancies and exceptions through vendor, broker,

and/or investment manager interchange and analytical tools.

o After about 1 year, hired as full-time employee: stayed an additional 5 years serving as senior analyst and trainer/mentor to junior staff.

o Improved the accuracy and timeliness of data to report final daily pricing for thousands of securities 5 to 20 minutes earlier.

o Reduced volume of pricing inquiries for all western hemisphere assets by about 30% via education and procedural change.

“As his Division Manager,…[I] would strongly recommend him for employment…He excelled at researching and analyzing valuation

information…[had] good communication skills necessary to work with other investment professionals both inside and outside of the

Bank to resolve various issues…in a very demanding and deadline-oriented environment, he showed good time management

skills…ability to multi-task…committed employee [who] often put in extra time and energy to achieve the goals required of his

team…Joe left the bank on his own accord…I would hire him again…he would be an asset to any team.”

– Art Jablonski, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Alternative Asset Services, Northern Trust Company

MARC J. LANE AND COMPANY, Chicago, Illinois August 1997 – June 1999

option, and mutual fund investments, advising clients regarding security selection and asset allocation decisions through written reports and face-to-

face meetings. Executed trade activity and handled administrative and operational matters.

• Implemented options trading for the firm that benefitted about 10% of the clients who represented approximately 20% of the firm’s assets:

established procedures, developed analytical models, and assumed responsibility for all option recommendations, trading, and monitoring.

• Increased firm revenue by about 15% due to additional trades made possible and the addition of options as a new product offering.

• Supervised 5 staff members involved in the transfer of all client accounts to a new clearing firm: completed transfer on time.

“I think very highly of Joe…[he] made a significant impact when he joined our firm…involved in all phases of the investment management

analysis skills…displayed thorough and detail-oriented nature when providing initial research and analysis…developed covered call

options as a new product, creating analytical models and advising clients who could benefit; also executed the trades and monitored the

positions…provided excellent client service whether in writing, over the phone or in person. A key benefit of hiring Joe was the improved

client service and the related increase to firm revenues.…[I] would recommend him for hire.”
