included: staff supervision, ETL processing, business analysis, application development, database

administration, and end user reporting.

Implemented three mission critical data warehouses in a five year period to widen corporate use and

streamline ability of merchants to resolve operational issues.

Reduced system maintenance time from 70% to 30% over a three year period, freeing additional

resources for new BI initiatives and strategic analysis.

Developed Scorecard Automation Mart for KPI data (Key Performance Indicators) for evaluation of store

performance. This tool was used to facilitate immediate identification and rectification of problem areas.

Managed team that created store employee data mart, tracking associate level performance and allowing

store operations to take immediate remedial action when appropriate, reducing time needed for field

employee performance reviews by 75%.

Designed and developed SIS (Sales Information System) warehouse for business metrics at the store

Managed development of transactional level Data Warehouse. Daily POS data from legacy systems was

fed to a star schema model. Back -end processing was created using a blend of ETL (Datastage), shell

Supervisory and project responsibilities with focus on data warehousing. System reliability and integrity of

data resulted in the elevation to a “mission critical” status by the business. A new set of standards and

product disciplines were created for all the necessary components (database administration, business

analysis, application development, and production support).

Extracted data from AS400 operational systems and loaded to 150 Gig Informix database providing

actionable operating results to business.

Managed migration to new HP-Unix platform, supervised team of five through server and OS install,

database and reporting tool installation, and the conversion of the complete back -end ETL process.

Installed releases, created test environment, established operating standards, created concise

documentation, provided production support resulting in reduced overhead maintenance, improved data

availability and significant increase in system usage by the business.

Project responsibilities supporting an outsourcing arrangement between Cole National and Unisys.

Led requirements and functional design phases of new decision support system (DSS), replacing

architecture. This groundbreaking project laid the foundation for the company’s first BI initiative.

Migrated mainframe bank-deposit system to network/PC based package, empowering business to

assume full control and significantly reduced cash shortages at the stores.
