Product Development Engineer – Pediatric Implants, Custom Implants, Bracing Medical Devices
Design and lead production of all phases of pediatric implants, custom implants, and bracing medical
devices. Perform 3D modeling using Unigraphics, ProE, and SolidWorks. Author design documentation
including DFMECA, DSD, DED, risk analysis, and project timeline, WBS, and management plan. Write
protocols. Create and maintain product DHF. Conduct testing and reporting on prototypes, Instron,
cadaver in vivo implantations, and instruments. Write regulatory documentation such as 510K submittals
product extensions, and CE marking. Audit and manage vendor relationships. Prepare engineering
change orders. Coordinate with national physicians.
Major Contributions

• Instrumental in Biomet penetrating Hemiepiphysiodesis market for 1 time, managing design of
implants, surgical tray, and instruments from cradle-to-grave, and playing role in marketing roll-out.
• Reduced cost of product production by implementing Lean Manufacturing and QC principles.
• Maximized quality and safety of surgical trays, creating ergonomic design, and performing sterilization
analysis, efficiency analysis, and SAL criteria analysis.
• Orchestrated numerous complex custom deployments including Metaphysical Arc External Fixator
needed for emergency use on pediatric patient; recognized for vital role in saving child’s life.
Key Projects:
• Engineered, developed, and released Biomet’s Growth Control Plating System, Peanut Plate®, and
Cold Therapy System, Bio Chill™.
• Improved Vision External Fixation System, developing innovative enhancements.
• Played primary role in design of Pediatric Submuscular Plating System, SMPLE Plating.
• Participate in ongoing development of Fracture Walker, Nomad Fracture Walker.
• Created numerous custom-tailored patient-matched implants; coordinated with surgeons’ on design
parameters, validation documentation, and preparing FDA Determination documentation.
