Title: Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop cost effective packaging designs for several company divisions on new products.

Design primary packaging and secondary packaging specs using ArtiosCAD and AutoCAD 2007.

Design conceptual thermoformed blister and tray models for concept packaging using SolidWorks 2009.

Manage Packaging related projects to meet production dates applying Agile Methodology.

Work with outside vendors, nationally and internationally (China), to get packaging samples developed.

Create packaging that meets criteria in strength and protection according to approved ISTA standards.

Responsibilities

Main role was to oversee the Engineering function within the company and interface with the sales and

manufacturing groups. This role was a direct report to the VP.

Validated designs in both pre and post manufacturing stages.

Managed a design group of 4 individuals using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD and PDM.

Designs were in Corrugated, Foam and Wood and had to meet strict Milspec/ASTM Standards at times.

Upgraded CAD design system to Solid Works as a cost reduction in design time.

Implemented a system to reduce errors in specifications going to manufacturing called Fast Track.

Responsible for all ISO documentation related to engineering.

Responsible for training all reports in best practice CAD design to reduce errors and increase efficiency.

QSE certified Auditor for ISO-9001:2000.and trained in Lean Manufacturing management (Kaisen).

Responsibilities

Worked as a team member in supporting the package design needs of over 20 company engineers based

globally involved in packaging run on high speed equipment.

In 2003 and 2004, we released the largest number of new products to market in Gillette’s history. This was

done through the hard effort of working as a part of a nationally recognized design team.

Developed packaging and assembly specifications using AutoCAD in a paperless PDM system.

Designed product packaging using 3D design tools such as Unigraphics and Solidworks.

Used CAPE Pack software to develop specifications showing product load efficiency when shipped.

Had an admin role in supporting AutoCAD spec integration for the Product Data Management System.

The aforementioned responsibility meant that I was a key individual in CAD standardization for the PDM

system. Also involved in Agile Style Management System of continuous improvement.

Supported and Mentored AutoCAD users globally for the department, which included setup, maintenance

and training.

Created ISO 9000 process documentation and procedures that were globally used as CAD training guides.

Tracked and managed the workload activity within the CAD group using advanced charting features of

Excel, this data was provided monthly as a PowerPoint presentation in order to provide metrics of

departmental performance.

Had a major role in the ISO9002 Certification Process related to Document Control.

Designed electro-mechanical drawings using AutoCAD r12 through AutoCAD r14.

Hands on role in the inspection of metal stamping components for various Medical Industry clients.

Performed Gage R&R studies on manufacturing floor

Used SPC, 1st piece and 6 Sigma processes to control quality of products produced.

Built and tested precision thermo and pneumatic controls for Motor Control and Precision Control groups

Conducted SPC testing of products as required.
