The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is the military’s premier graduate university, providing relevant and unique
advanced education and research programs, in support of the U.S. and Allied armed forces.
Leading Petty Officer, ITACS Department
Selected for advancement to E 6 in June 2009. Additional duties included: serving as military supervisor of eight
enlisted personnel within Information Technology and Communications Services (ITACS); coordinating
departmental responsibilities for military personnel; serving as a mentor for junior enlisted members.
• Took graduate Information Assurance policy courses at NPS, hoping to gain insight to current
methodologies and additional perspectives on current and future IA programs and practices.
• Began teaching basic networking and information security concepts and best practices to junior military
members.
Lead Technician, Network Security Group Supervisor
Chosen as Lead Technician – over two more senior personnel – in March of 2008. Additional duties included:
research and technical validation of enterprise class vendor products under consideration for purchase; serving as the
IA point of contact and providing technical expertise during contractor and vendor led integration of new products
into the network infrastructure; providing Snort training to technical and management departmental personnel.
• Led project to create a web based tool to track users of unmanaged client systems, correlating data from
Snort, SQL database, Kerberos, DHCP and VPN logs, providing the functionality of a $60,000 commercial
product.
• Created a virtualized heterogeneous network environment for malware testing and deep virus removal.
• Continued classes at NPS, taking Computer Science courses to better understand IT programs and processes.

student and faculty computers; remote malware removal, and providing escalated service for cases requiring manual
virus removal; assisting with certification and accreditation effort to get and maintain, .MIL network at DoD
Information Condition Level 3 certification.
Led the reconfiguration effort of server room layout and connections, and provided up to date

Supervisor of five technicians responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of ship based communication
equipment, including: long and medium distance wireless communications, helicopter communications, satellite
internet connection, and RF to IP distribution system.
• Awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for sustained superior performance for personal and work group
efforts.
Recommended for early promotion after only 12 months aboard.
Overhauled divisional training program, including schedule, content, administration, and compliance, directly leading to
an 87% advancement rate (100% passing rate) for the following test cycle.
S Frank Cable, Apra, Guam 2002 – 2005
The USS Frank Cable is a submarine tender capable of furnishing maintenance and logistic support for up to four
nuclear submarines at a time, based in the Western Pacific Ocean.
Electronics Technician
Duties included performing weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance on shipboard communication equipment;
troubleshooting and repairs as necessary; served as Training Petty Officer, which included responsibility for
divisional training program.
