and enjoy challenges. I earned a BS from Birla Institute of Technology & Science and an MS from Illinois Institute
of Technology, both in Mechanical Engineering. I am also Six Sigma Green Belt certified (Motorola).
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Spearheaded concept to launch of first ODM-based smartphone. Motorola wanted to develop first Outside
Development Manufacturer (ODM) based smartphone. Sourced and selected Far East vendor. Led design reviews,
testing and process transfer to ensure ODM met requirements. Launched on-time, meeting quality criterion.
Designed and delivered world’s thinnest smartphone. Motorola saw new product as revenue opportunity.
Managed design across multiple team locations and technologies. Used common components to minimize costs.
Collaborated with stakeholders to achieve record three-month ramp. Product became industry standard.
Reduced direct costs 60% by creating robotic assembly line. Bell Labs manual wireless handset assembly was
costly and time-consuming. Designed and built automated assembly line in addition to product development
responsibility. Worked with vendors in defining specs and fabricating/testing line. Reduced assembly cost $Ms.
Saved $100M through component commonality. Different batteries, displays and acoustics were being used
across multiple Motorola products. Collaborated with design managers and vendors to identify and produce
common components. Reached consensus on size and functionality. Generated significant savings over five years.
Decreased product development time 50%. Motorola Division President promised Cingular accelerated product
delivery. Focused team on requirements and use of best current practices/processes. Negotiated tight deadlines
with vendors. Achieved company-first on-time delivery. Received award from Cingular as Best Supplier of the Year.
Received top award for state-of-the-art product. Bell Labs sought to enter growth market with new technology.

Developed multi-year product roadmaps and strategy. Utilized Six Sigma design techniques and simulation tools for
product development, yielding low-cost, high-quality, reliable products. Managed budgets to $15M and staff to 50.
Technical Manager, Global Wireless Products Group and Visual Communications Market Group, Bell Labs, 1978-
1998. Responsible for design and development of cellular handsets, analog and ISDN business phone systems,
video telephony, Modems/DSUs and group video systems. Managed budgets to $12M and staff to 50.
