Abbott Laboratories Pharmaceutical Products Division (Abbott PPD)

implemented a new System, Sample Management project used as a sales force

automation tool and physician contact management system. Sales

representatives utilize a local tablet database for call planning and

sample management. The tablet is also used to capture sample call

information, as well as physician signatures. Sales rep activity data is

synchronized with a central server. The MAX v4.0 release served as a

replacement for the OMEGA Sample Management system and the Balance on Hand

(BOH) Tool. The release merged the PPD Sales Representative-facing

functionality of these systems, including Shipments, Returns,

Disbursements, Adjustments and Inventory, into MAX. This new functionality

became available as a supplemental release to MAX and allowed PPD Sales

Representatives a single point of access for managing day-to-day work

activities. Environment consists of a new database environment using the

latest version of Abbott's Siebel 7.8 ePharma sales force automation

software application (MAX).
