Employment
Information Security Analyst, Northrop Grumman, Edina, MN - USPS
NACI Clearance
I am part of the Information Security Services where I perform
vulnerability assessment on network devices, servers, databases, and
applications. I test applications for different types of vulnerabilities
like SQL Injection, HTTP Splitting, Cross Site Scripting(XSS) and more. I
discover, research and/or perform proof of concept for known
vulnerabilities and I work with the owners of the servers, network devices,
databases, and applications to remediate the vulnerabilities and provide
reports to upper management and external auditors. I worked with the
Private Key Infrastructure team on what needs to use certs and what type of
cert needs to be used. I wrote the security testing policy and procedures
for security assessments on servers, network devices, databases and
applications. I also was a key part of security tools and methodologies
research and implementation.
Network Security Intern, PayPal, Scottsdale, AZ
September 2008- June 2009
At PayPal I evaluated and implemented many different devices and tools such
as Splunk, Niksun NetVCR, Opnet ACE Live, and Cisco's Network Compliance
Manager. I was responsible for configuring and administrating various
switches and routers. I had hands on experience with CheckPoint
Firewalls. I learned about and gained hands on experience with different
switch vendors like Juniper and Force 10. I used my Linux/UNIX skills to
perform different tasks on various Linux and UNIX servers in the PayPal
environment. I installed Red Hat on servers and then configured tools such
as the Cisco's Network Compliance Manger on those servers. I installed
FreeBSD as the operating system for many of the different servers like the
Niksun NetVCR. I helped the Principle Network Security Engineers come up
with repeatable processes for firewall rule audits and Disaster Recovery to
stay PCI compliant. Worked on evaluating and selecting firewall auditing
tool vendors. I worked with eBay Network Security to test Cisco ASA
vulnerabilities by creating a test network in the lab. IPS/IDS vendor
evaluation and selection.
National Security Agency's INFOSEC Assessment and Evaluation Methodology
Training course to follow the same methodology the NSA uses to perform
policy review and vulnerability assessments on government agencies. For
the vulnerability assessment I used two tools in eight different categories
including SARA, Nessus, NMap, SNScan, SuperScan, Wireshark, and more. I
have performed policy review and vulnerability assessments on a hospital,
university, and school district.
Independent Contracting
August 2009 - I was contracted by the Lin-Wood School District in New
Hampshire for their ISP switch, to upgrade their servers, perform a
vulnerability assessment on the network, and to reconfigure their servers,
routers, and firewalls.
