My name is Jos Luis Le n Romo, I am married Antonieta Suarez-Souto; I have
two children, Luis Diego 6 years old and Camila Valeria 9 years old. Luis
is coursing his first year elementary school; he is a very active,
intelligent and easy going boy. For some reasons I don't understand yet, he
is a particular fascination for children US movies. He not only feel well
with the pictures but get the picture what these movies is behind. In the
future I wish he was a physic, chemist or Neuroscientist, and of course
contest for a scholarship from one of the top universities from the
USA. Camila Valeria shares the same pictures and feelings from these
pictures. She is coursing his four year elementary school and possessing,
since 4 year or even less, a very particular fascination for painting;
their featuring remember me Pablo Picasso painting. Recently, one of her
drawings was included in a book for children by Horacio Quiroga.
She received a scholarship from the SEP (from its acronym in Spanish Public
Education Secretary) for being one the best student in her generation. She
is a very easy going girl that has put her dreams in one of the
Universities of the USA. I have not doubts that she can achieve his goals
in the future. During the time she lived in Orsay France, she received the
same impression from many French people.
As I mentioned before, my name is Jos Luis and I am a PhD in Organic
Chemistry. In the late of 2000 I was distinguished for the minister of
Education of France for occupying one the places in the Paris University as
postdoctoral fellow. I consider myself with a very strong backgrounds in
Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, as well as all the methods
of identification for organic compounds. In particular, as part of my
academic formation, I involved in a project related with oligosaccharides,
which gave me some experience in the conformational analysis of compounds
over 1000 g/mol using modelling chemistry and bidimensional NMR in the
group of Dr. Jimenez Barbero in Madrid Spain.
During the time of preparation of my PhD thesis, I learned all about the
fascinating enolate chemistry. This one helped me to developing a general
methodology for the asymmetric synthesis of alpha and beta amino acids
based on chiral benzodiazepine-2,5-dione glycine type enolate containing
(S)-alpha phenylethyl amine and (S)-chiral aminoacids derivatives. A
related chemistry but based in hydantoine molecules is important to
mention. These chemistry along two review papers have received over 130
citation for others authors. During the time as postdoctoral fellow I
established some know how for introducing substituents in the four position
of nicotinic acid using the general methodology by Meyers and Commins. I
have been a lucky guy for being part of the alumni of Professor Joseph
Muchowsky during the heterocyclic chemistry courses he imparted in the
Chemistry Faculty at UNAM, Mexico. In fact, I met him in Syntex Research
Laboratories in Mexico when I was invited for this company to participate
and collaborate as a young chemist in 1990 . In that time he was chief
of Dr. Arturo Perez Medrano, my close friend and supervisor at that time in
Syntex, currently working as scientific in Abbot Laboratories at Chicago
Illinois, USA.
Since arrived to Mexico in the fall of 2001, I just have had chance to
teach chemistry in the classrooms of UNAM and IPN, probably the best
universities of chemistry in Mexico, however with very lean salary. There
was not any opportunities in 8 complicated years for me and my family to
developing good chemistry projects I had in mind, but this is the reality
for many guys in Mexico.
In the case you would need a letter for my behalf, please ask for Prof.
Ives Langlois from University of Paris-Sud, Bat. 410, ICMO, Orsay France,
my good friend and mentor. Also, please request a letter of recomendation
to Dr. Arturo Perez Medrano.
