Director of Corporate Marketing Communications

Promoted to create and lead the corporation's first Marketing Department.

Charged with hiring staff, acquiring and analyzing syndicated and custom

market research, developing and implementing targeted and comprehensive

cross-media marketing plans, including corporate identity, print, radio,

TV, and outdoor and vehicle advertising, direct mail, corporate events,

and public-relations initiatives for a media conglomerate with $75

million in annual sales. Developed and managed a $1.1 million budget, 5

direct reports, and ongoing relationships with external creative-services

providers. Scope of responsibilities included ongoing collaboration with

corporate ownership to enhance company value, identify target areas of

growth opportunity, and increase media market share in an intensely

V Within 6 months of promotion, staffed the new department and engaged

rebranding and integrated corporate marketing plan, resulting in

INCHCAPE TESTING SERVICES/COMPLIANCE ENGINEERING MAGAZINE - Andover, MA

(The leading U.S. trade magazine for regulatory compliance engineers in

Executive Editor/Compliance Engineering Magazine

Recruited by owner to supervise editorial, creative, and production

functions and staff for full-color, bi-monthly electronic-trade journal

with U.S. and Euopean editions. Duties included editorial planning,

budgeting, forecasting, and quality control. Charged with upgrading the

publication to prepare it for marketing and sale to a trade publisher.

V Within 6 months of hire, established CE "European Edition," created

for European engineers and printed in England, increasing advertising

Recruited by Office of the University Publisher to edit and supervise

production of Harvard's General Catalogue. Promoted to management team of

100-employee, full-service graphic-arts facility. Responsibilities

involved ongoing and intense collaboration with faculty and

administrators in all University departments to develop editorial

product, supervise internal project flow, monitor quality control, and

interpret financial data related to publication efficiency and

profitability. Additionally, taught graphic arts/communications at

Harvard's Center for Lifelong Learning. Highlights include:

admissions/marketing materials, resulting in a record increase in the
