QUALIFICATIONS
I have been in the product design field for 30 years. The variety of
products designed ranges from CRT Deflection yokes for the space
shuttle to one of the very first home pregnancy test kits. In
addition, hardware for some of the first risc based computers as well
as computer printers for consumer and commercial markets.
EDUCATION
1977-1981 University of Lowell - additional math and computer
courses
1974-1977 A.S. Arch. Engineering Wentworth Institute
1969-1972 Tewksbury Memorial High School
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
10-12/2009 Sr Product Designer, Airvana Corp
Oversee design of new communications product for the cell
phone industry.
Produce alternate plastic part solutions.
Maintain product database through product design variations.
2007-2009 Principal Design Engineer, Verde Home Products
Design of 6 new high end products for home recycling
All phases of the design process - design the plastic/sheet
metal parts and assemblies.
Integrate PCB's into the assembly
Mold source and inspection of off-tool parts in Far-East
Assisted in setting up manufacturing in Far-East
Paperless product release to tooling

1993-2007 Principal Design Engineer, Holmes Group/Jarden
Design and detail Holmes' most challenging home comfort
products.
All phases of the design process - design the plastic/sheet
metal parts and assemblies.
Integrate PCB's into the assembly
Specification of purchased parts
Mold source and inspection of off tool parts from Far-East
vendors and local tool shops.
Develop product costs.
Provide design verification through the use of SLA technology
to ensure fits' tolerances, clearances and manufacturability.
Perform product support duties relative to manufacturability
requirements and cost reduction techniques.
Paperless product release to tooling
1988-1993 Mechanical Designer, Digital Equipment Corp
Designed and detailed high-end commercial grade computer
products ranging form very small network repeaters to large
multiple hard drive servers. In addition some of the very
first flat panel lcd displays.
This work was all done in 3d solids and wire frame modeling
software
Extensive use of tolerance studies and drawing standards
1986-1988 Mechanical Designer, Dataproducts Corporation
Designed and detailed 3 printers for the commercial grade
computer market. The first was a standard hammerhead printer,
then one of the first ink jet printers. The last printer was
a wax ribbon printer for the airline ticket and boarding pass
industry. This work was all done through 2d drawings and
specifications
1979-1986 Mechanical Designer, Display Components Corp.
Designed and detailed CRT deflection yokes for the military,
industrial and commercial CRT monitor markets.
2d drawings and specifications
1977-1979 Designer, Amicon Corp
Designed and detailed a variety of micro-
filtration products including the first pregnancy test
kit prototype for the home market
CAD EXPERIENCE I was introduced to designing on the computer at
Digital Equipment Corp, initially trained, using Unigraphics 3d wire-frame
software. Shortly there after - Parametric Technologies Inc Pro-Engineer,
which I have used to this day. I currently have over 40,000 hours logged in
to this application and designed many products in part or in whole.
Introduced to Pro-e on Version 3 and currently working on Wildfire 3.0.
Other 3D applications I'm familiar with are Catia, Solidworks and AutoCAD.
I have extensive experience in creating parts ready for injection molding
or blow molding. This same can be said for creating sheet metal parts in 3D
and have them unfold properly for manufacturing. All of this work mentioned
above, using Pro-engineer, has been with the use of PTC's Top-Down design
methodology. This also includes advanced surfacing.
Additional Training: GE Design for Manufacturing
