PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Silicon Graphics Inc, Chippewa Falls, WI

Director of Operations (2006 - 2009)

Ran the production operations team responsible for build, test and delivery

of $80-100 million in quarterly revenue. Low volume/high mix custom

configuration supercomputers.

. Developed headcount and space utilization tracking tools, reorganized

the production teams, and aggressively cross trained associates

resulting in a 30% improvement in headcount utilization and a 40%

reduction in space utilization.

. Established asset utilization metrics that drove changes in internal

system rotation programs and resulted in the savings of millions of

dollars in capital expenses for the engineering and application

performance teams.

. Successfully managed several large multimillion dollar government and

commercial projects, on time and with superior quality, resulting in

high customer satisfaction and repeat business.

. Implemented an out bound product quality audit process that resulted

in customer observed quality levels of 99+%.

. Overhauled the Safety program including strong management support

which led to significant improvements. Year over year workman's comp

claims dropped from $190,000 to $26,000.

Manufacturing Engineering Director (2003-2005)

Led the activities of the manufacturing engineering teams including Test

Engineering, Process and Manufacturing Technologies, Supply Base Eng,

Quality Assurance, and the PDM/CDM documentation teams.

. Implemented lean initiatives resulting in significant cycle time

reductions

. Managed the company's product development process resulting in

consistent and predictable product releases.

. Applied DFx tools to successfully release several server and graphics

products into manufacturing.

Quality Director - Worldwide Operations (1999-2002)

Led the quality assurance teams across four factories in CA, WI, and

Switzerland. Focus ranged from supply base to customers, and new product

introductions through end of life support.

. Established successful multi factory quality management system

resulting in a single ISO 9000 certification.

. Drove corrective actions back into the design process which resulted

in a 12X improvement in product reliability over a 5 year period.

Cray Research Inc, Chippewa Falls WI

Reliability/Quality Assurance Manager (1988-1998)

Establish and execute reliability and quality assurance plans to support

new product introductions. Implement root cause/corrective action feedback

methodologies to drive continuous improvement in product reliability and

customer satisfaction.

. Established and staffed an inhouse reliability test laboratory

resulting in the successful launch of SGI/Cray Research's C90 and T90

families of supercomputers.

. Led a Japan Quality Improvement Program which resulted in improvements

in customer feedback processes, product quality improvements, and

improved customer satisfaction.

President, R-DAR Enterprise Partnership/LLC (2000-Present)

Established partnership/LLC and own retail business with revenues of

$150,000 annually

Prior to 1988 spent time as a reliability engineer/project manager at

Rockwell Collins Government Avionics Division in Cedar Rapids IA.
