Job Title: Yard Manager and Environmental Manager
Main Duties:
My current role is fourfold. My main role is Depot Manager at the
Manchester site, which takes up 70% of my time. 20% is in my role as the
Company's Environmental Manager for all registered sites. The remainder of
my time is within commercial departments, split 50/50 between Procurement
in a team of 5 and as Deputy Sales Manager for non-ferrous materials. Even
then, my everyday duties far exceed those normally expected of a person in
these positions.
In my capacity of Depot Manager at the Manchester Site, I handle all
personnel and disciplinary issues that arise during day to day business and
must deal with professional and personal problems discreetly and with all
concerned parties interests in mind, I am responsible for the co-ordination
and supervision of the team to deliver the Company objectives and I have
active control of stocks of purchased and processed materials.
On the commercial side, I am responsible for the control of purchasing from
and payment to customers, as well as developing export markets for our Non-
Ferrous materials.
In my role as Environmental manager, it is my responsibility to ensure that
all employees comply with Safety, Environmental, Quality and general
business objectives on a day-to-day basis and ensure that they are made
aware of their performance by preparing and publishing the site related
performance statistics.
I helped to develop, implement and maintain the ISO 14001:2004
Environmental Management System as well as assisting in the development of
the company's ISO 9001:2008 System. I am also Internal Auditor trained in
ISO 9001:2008 and Lead Auditor trained in ISO 14001:2004.
I have an extensive knowledge of environmental legislation, both domestic
and international, and have regular dealings with the Environment Agency
and the Health and Safety Executive, including site visits, audits and
compliance assessments.
I have provided training to large groups of employees in preparation for
the Company's ISO 9001 accreditation and to explain the Company's ISO 14001
Management System, as well as addressing the Company Directors and other
members of the Management Team during monthly and quarterly meetings with
regards to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
Overall, I am considered by management and peers to be professional,
conscientious and hard-working, and my directors have told me that my
friendly, laid-back attitude can assist and inspire others. I am self
motivating, enthusiastic and ambitious and I know that my willingness to go
above and beyond the call of duty would make me a valuable asset to any
Company.

I have basic spoken and listening skills in both German and French but
would be eager and willing to undertake any language course required by an
employer.
I have advanced computer literacy and have an excellent working knowledge
of the Microsoft Office software suite. I am also an in-house trainer in
the RECY computer system; a system specifically designed for the scrap
metal recycling industry.
Hobbies/Interests
I enjoy riding my motorcycle. I'm a volunteer instructor holding the rank
of Sergeant instructing Royal Marine Cadets. I'm also an assistant Rugby
coach for the under 7's at Waterloo RUFC. I enjoy water sports
(Powerboating, sailing and kayaking) to which I hold RYA qualifications
relevant to leisure marine craft. I also enjoy watching football and
playing Rugby.
