Develop and manage budgets ($26 Million dollars) to corporate requirements. We were

able to reduce the overall facilities costs by six million dollars worldwide in five years

while still maintaining a corporate presence in the geographical areas required.

POLAROID CORPORATION WALTHAM, MA

FACILITIES AND MATERIALS MANAGER 1976 – SEPTEMBER 2000

Managed, planned, purchased and coordinated a $4.1M construction project inside the

confines of an existing manufacturing facility. We added a new class 1 clean room, and

upgraded the building manufacturing and chemical mix systems. The new manufacturing

and office space was created without any disruption to the existing manufacturing

operation. The project came in on time and $400,000 under budget.

Guided a cross functional team in a Six Sigma project to reduce facilities maintenance

costs while maintaining a high quality chemical manufacturing facility. I negotiated a

change in job design, and introduced a Six Sigma system (root cause analysis) to improve

utilization, and productivity of all skilled tradesmen, and reduce costs. In the first year, a

21% reduction in facilities maintenance costs of $600,000 was attained.

Planned, directed, purchased, and coordinated a maintenance program on production

manufacturing equipment to improve production run time and yields, while maintaining

ISO 9000 certification. Guided an operations team that analyzed production down time

and yield losses. Documented changes for ISO 9000 requirements. The result was an 8%

increase in production machine run time, and an 11% increase in yield for a total cost

savings of $300,000.00 a year while maintaining ISO 9000 certification
