FACILITIES AND MATERIALS MANAGER 1976 – SEPTEMBER 2000
Managed, planned, purchased and coordinated a $4.1M construction project inside the
confines of an existing manufacturing facility. We added a new class 1 clean room, and
upgraded the building manufacturing and chemical mix systems. The new manufacturing
and office space was created without any disruption to the existing manufacturing
operation. The project came in on time and $400,000 under budget.
Guided a cross functional team in a Six Sigma project to reduce facilities maintenance
costs while maintaining a high quality chemical manufacturing facility. I negotiated a
change in job design, and introduced a Six Sigma system (root cause analysis) to improve
utilization, and productivity of all skilled tradesmen, and reduce costs. In the first year, a
21% reduction in facilities maintenance costs of $600,000 was attained.
Planned, directed, purchased, and coordinated a maintenance program on production
manufacturing equipment to improve production run time and yields, while maintaining
ISO 9000 certification. Guided an operations team that analyzed production down time
and yield losses. Documented changes for ISO 9000 requirements. The result was an 8%
increase in production machine run time, and an 11% increase in yield for a total cost
savings of $300,000.00 a year while maintaining ISO 9000 certification
