Manufacturing Manager

Raeford, NC

2007 -

Present

Unilever Raeford manufactures Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant Sticks,

Shampoo's and Body Wash Liquids. The

site consists of 7 Production lines, with a plant operating budget

exceeding $35 million. The plant output

exceeds 400 million units of Personal Care items, contributing over

$900 million in revenue for the region. The

site successfully challenged for the TPM Level 2 Consistency award

through the Japanese Institute of Plant

Maintenance (JIPM).

. Partnered with Quality Manager to reduce finished good rejections

by 60% compared with previous year

. Improved inventory accuracy to 98.5% while consuming 1 billion

components and 100 million pounds of raw materials

. Redesigned the material flow within the site to reduce incoming

packaging material on hand by 30% and outbound finished goods by

25%

. Launched a new Vendor Collaboration Program resulting in a 50%

the PCL technology platform, aligning

customer requirements with capital investments. The roadmap

America.

revenue for Unilever HPC USA. My primary

responsibility included managing third party vendors supporting the

Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant category. I led the regional strategic

sourcing initiative for Personal Care aerosols across multiple categories.

I was selected the technology lead for all Promotional Pack assembly

requirements for the region across all personal care categories. This

responsibility included managing 3 direct reports. Unilever's promotional

requirements generated $500 million in revenue.

. Project lead to outsource all of Unilever aerosol requirements in

excess of 200 million units from internal site to selected contract

manufacturers

. Implemented a 'through the wall' operation for all Promotional Pack

assembly requirements at two of our largest DC's. Project realized

$8 million in labor and freight savings

. Managed the startup of a new contract manufacturer to deliver major

launch of new platform in US market, Axe body spray

. Led the initiative to source all trial/travel Anti-

Perspirant/Deodorant sticks from the Philippines including quality

validation

. Rationalized the contract manufacturing vendor base by 60% while

delivering a 20% increase in vendor reliability

Purchasing Manager, Raw Materials

2002

Unilever's Raw Materials group was responsible to source $600 million

in various commodity and specialty chemicals. My sourcing portfolio

consisted of commodity chemicals with a dollar value exceeding $160

million. I managed 2 direct reports, sourcing commodity chemicals for

brands such as Q Tips, Dove bar soap and Snuggle fabric softener.

. Delivered $35 million in negotiated savings over a three year

period utilizing strategic sourcing initiatives developed in

conjunction with Product Development

. Raw materials liaison for the E-commerce Director to develop our e-

procurement strategy

. Selected team lead for a global sourcing initiative for key raw

materials consumed in Dove bar soap. The sourcing initiative

involved all Unilever regions

MG Industries is a $300 million manufacturer of industrial gases. MG

Industries was a second tier manufacturer in the industrial gas market.

The company focused on bulk industrial gases, specifically liquid oxygen,

nitrogen and argon.
