Responsibility: Technical Consultant

USAA a fortune 500 Company, with a working strength of 20,000 plus is one

of the leading Property and Casualty Insurance Company serving the US

Defense Personnel and their dependants in the US and abroad, and is a

leading provider of Life Insurance, Financial and Banking service. The

Company is in the process of doing regulatory and non -regulatory business

changes to its existing system due to changes in law specific to the states

in US. On addition to that they have regular maintenance and enhancement

support activity going on regular basis.

. Worked as onsite coordinator for BPMP(Business process management

projects) and LRP (low risk projects)

. Involved in preparing PDR/CDR (Design report)

1. VPP Rewrite (USAA) Nov 2007 -

Nov 2009

This project had rewritten the entire VPP system which is one of the

Lines of Business in the Property and Casualty insurance in USAA. The VPP

insurances include the valuable personal property like jewelry, cameras and

coin/stamp collections, etc., in the home and the protection taken against

that property with the help of insurance. This project has changed the

entire legacy VPP system and made a revolution to enter into the insurance

policies to be keyed online in dot com applications including e-signature

forms. The backend and batch related works had been undertaken by the host

(mainframe) modules and whereas the front end environment is JAVA

applications.

2. Refined Homeowner Risk Tiers (USAA) Jan

This project is to increase the number of Homeowners Tiers and make changes

to the criteria used in USAA's tiering model. The new tier placement

criteria will include introducing new factors and new rules in tier

derivation. These new factors and rules will make the homeowner's policies

to get a more appropriate rate for each risk so that policies can be rated

with more appropriate premiums.

These changes include introducing new Business service utilities (To

introduce new factors and rules), Online Screen changes (Underwriter review

screen) and document changes (To send Notice to the policyholder regarding

changes to the premium calculations).

. Helped Subject Matter Expert (SME) to collect the requirements, by

discussing with Business, and helped in preparing High Level Documents

(HLD)

Homeowner policies are counted as one among the 3 major dwelling Line of

Business that USAA does for military people. This project is developed to

purchase homeowner policy over internet.. This application was implemented

in two phases based on the features. First Phase covered all issue of home

owner's policy, and phase two to get a Quote on the policy information and

there by user was given the option of either to buy the policy or to

customize according to his requirement.

will avoid future code changes to the programs) and field expansion for the

company code.

Project #2: Global Network Services (GNS)

American Express

Mar 2004 - Feb 2005

American Express with headquarters in New York is a global travels,

financial and network service provider. Founded in 1850, the company serves

individuals with charge and credit cards, traveler's checks and other store

value products. Through its family of corporate card services, AMEX helps

companies and institutions to manage their travel, entertainment and

purchasing expense.

Global Network Services (GNS)

This project is undertaken for American Express based in Phoenix. This is a

maintenance and production support project. The GNS & TEU are applications

in Clearing and Settlement system. The purpose of Clearing and Settlement

(C&S) is to process transactions from the American Express card products

issued (Network Issuers) or accepted (Network Acquirers) by Network

Participants (GNS). GNS (Network Capture) is the 'gateway' to Network

Partners and TEU (Transaction Exchange Utility), which is the 'gateway' to

Proprietary Partners. Acquirers and Issuers are both the upstream and

downstream systems to GNS. The data received from Acquirers will be

validated and sent to Issuers and the data received from Issuers will be

sent to Acquirers. GNS receives different types of messages or transactions

from these partners. Transactions made at merchants will be sent to GNS by

Acquirers and Issuers send only dispute messages to GNS

The support provided by Syntel includes production support and executing

enhancement change requests. Production support involves fixing the

production problems that occur during the normal operations of the Client.

The enhancement change requests involve requests from the Client for

development of new programs or systems or modification of the existing

programs or any other subsystem that are essential for supporting ongoing

business of the Client.
